Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Looks like WCG will be shutting down for the final transition. Let’s hope it goes well.

That's right. it will give me a time to rest the machines, give them a good cleaning, save a bit on my electric bill, and start thinking about my Spring projects and the garden. Depending on the weather, it may be a good time to clean out the chicken shed and get the brooder area ready for the new chicks.
Here I am thinking about Spring and the temperature is -13F(-25C). That last thaw left melt water everywhere which has now turned to ice. Very slippery outside. A cold weekend and then some moderating.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Not sure I will be back but will wait and see how things go. So far, not impressed with the change over. Will crunch some when it gets back online and see how it goes. Am reading in different parts of this forum membership is dropping.

As long as they have projects I can believe in, I will be back. If I think the projects are researching the ability of snakes to cross country ski, then I can find better uses of my time and resources. I don't see that happening (I hope) biggrin

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I welcome this short break after ~15 years of continuous crunching in one form or another. Hopefully we make it back out the other side in one piece. Hope to see you all there too. In the meantime everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for their sacrifices and contributions to date. Good day.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I just turned off another machine. I have two left running which will run out some time this evening or early morning. Then that is it for a while until I see another project which really intrigues me, something medical, preferably in the BOINC world. Maybe I will give Folding a try for a while.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Only one machine left crunching. It is one of the Linux machines. It would have been done several hours ago, but it received about 25 re-sends. I suspect it will be finished in about 4 to 5 hours. Then there is still about 15 units awaiting either validation or verification. By the time morning rolls around everything should done.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We are back. It will be interesting to see just how many members will continue to crunch and what daily production will be. Just waiting for them to release some work units.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Glad I decided to check this web site. Think I will watch a few of you for your experience with new work units before starting up again. If anyone is using the new chips from intel, would like to know how well they crunch. My new Mac mini has 8 core cpu, 8 core gpu and 16 core neural engine. Still trying to understand the neural engine. Seems intels version is a bit faster but uses more energy.
