Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I also think they released some more. My usually empty buffer is full of both NVIDA and INTC work units. I have not see this many before.

It will be exciting to see tomorrows numbers.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

My old Nvidia GTX 960 has been getting some work units, I agree they seem to be releasing more. It was a great team day for points!

Looking at Boincstats totals for yesterday it looks like mbotmiller really crushed it, with over 400,000 boinc(2,800,000 WCG) points. A couple others were also over 100,000 boinc points. Those GPU's are really proving to be effective. Good job everyone.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

As many of you have eloquently said previously, we're here to help with research first. However, every once in a while it is fun to celebrate the contributions (points) too : )

These last two days have definitely been personal bests in my WCG career:
04/13/2021 - 3,189,151
04/12/2021 - 1,971,775

Also, a few days ago, I noticed our team moved from #58 to #57 in the 'Total Run Time' rankings, just inching ahead of the "Research Support Coin" team with a total of over 3,965 years of run time. Really nice work everyone!

I have 2 of the 16 core chips now. They are very fast and efficient, quite happy with them. The 12 core version is great as well. Would be a great choice for new build.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I meant 16 core. My bad. Thanks for your input on the chips. Am reading the other threads about these chips and linux. My current 6 core AMD cruncher seems to like Ubuntu so far. Just checking how GPU's are working under linux and crunching covid. Seems kind of mixed results but more bad results with nvidia cards it seems. Thanks again.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Welcome, Paul D. The more the merrier. We are a small team, only about 16 users have submitted results recently but we are well in the top 50 teams. Got some heavy hitters and dedicated crunchers moving things forward.

Bearcat, seems like I tried GPU with linux once and could not get the right packages and what not installed for it to work properly. So I gave up and just use windows most of the time where there is GPU work. I know some of the CPU projects used to crunch more efficiently on Linux in the past though.
