Looks like the motherboard won't handle it so will start buying parts. Hoping the 16 core will go on sale somewhere to get me started. Do you think the motherboard won't be able to handle the heat issues ? Cheers https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/...IME-A320M-K/HelpDesk_CPU/ Ryzen 9 3950X (3.5GHz,105W,L3:64M,16C) ALL BIOS 4801 Doing a quick search, looks like your motherboard will support the 3950x, but not the 5950x. Its a 105 watt chip so not too crazy, but I use a dual 120mm fan cooler on the CPU to keep temps nice and low. I asked on xtremsystems web site to see what those folks over there had to say. Was told the motherboard won't handle the VRM with a 16 core. Will just build one to be safe. Thanks for the link. Does look like it can be done with the 3950x. Current motherboard can't use full length gpu's. Tried using the GT 720 I have in it now. Took as long to crunch as the regular wu's so stopped using it.

Yesterday's point fest allowed me to move up one position on the team contribution list. I'm #14 now.

Today's total has vaulted us to #18 in the daily totals. I don't think this team has ever been that high in the daily rankings. A number of you must be really tearing it up with your GPU's. Well done all.

Yesterday's point fest allowed me to move up one position on the team contribution list. I'm #14 now. Congrats Element6 - nice going!Impressive job everyone. If the deluge continues we may move up another notch in the all time ratings. Looks like yesterday we did move up one spot from #53 to #52 in the all time WCG points ratings. After today's very nice haul, it looks like we are under 17 million WCG points away from moving up another spot. Given that we outperformed the team ahead of us by ~41 million WCG points today, if the flood of GPU work units lasts one more day (or even a little less), I bet we have a good chance of moving up one more spot!Very nice work everyone and special shoutout to FlynRyan leading the charge! |

Congrats, guys well done all around. Pretty stoked about being #17 in overall points yesterday, but the number 1 guy, Aurum420, was almost 10 times more still, and more alone than all but the top 4 teams on WCG! I'd like to see his setup. Anyways, enjoy it while it lasts, for soon we will be fishing for the elusive gpu work again it seems. Be nice if they just kept going full bore till the project is finished.
Good night. |

Do I uncheck covid so I can crunch just the gpu wu's?

You need to navigate to the custom profile settings. There is a pulldown for "allow to run on CPU" (YES/NO). If you ONLY want GPU units, flip this to "NO". If YES, you will get both CPU/GPU units.
----------------------------------------If you are getting ZERO GPU units now, make sure the toggles in the "Graphics Card settings" is flipped to "YES" for your GPU brands.

Thanks. Next question, can more than 1 wu for gpu be crunching at the same time? Or would it be more efficient to crunch 1 at a time?

Thanks. Next question, can more than 1 wu for gpu be crunching at the same time? Or would it be more efficient to crunch 1 at a time? Depends on the GPU. For a moderately powerful GPU, most can run more efficient with multiple work units. On the other hand, I have a laptop which just runs one at a time since it doesn't seem to gain anything by trying to run more. My rule of thumb recently is to try to keep the run times down to under 1 hour per work unit. More than that and you increase chance for errors and timeouts, or at least it's a red flag that things probably aren't running optimally. I have a ATI RX 580. Would think this gpu could handle it. Will give it a try and see how the results do.
