Finally got a silver badge for African Rainfall. That one is hard to rack up points for us little guys. Congratulations. Those units take between 24 to 26 hours on my best machine. Cheers

After the server issues the last few days, it certainly appears as though the stats are starting to catch up. I didn't see any invalids, errors, or aborts out of this. It all works out in the end.
Good day. |

Good day. I don't know how you got lucky. I had a little over 1 page of invalids, if I remember correctly, all on Linux. All appears to have returned to normal now. I am down to 6 pages of pending verifications. I am sure both they and the pending validations will catch up in the next day or 2. Cheers

My doctor has been after me for several years to get the shingles vaccine, so I finally did it. It is a two shot deal about a month apart. The first one wasn't too bad, but I got the chills which is a known side effect. I put the electric blanket on, turned up and eventually got warm. So, when I got the second shot I was told it would be a little worse, but I figured I could do the same thing again and no big deal. The pharmacy tech was right. It was worse, but not so bad as to be terrible. I used the same technique, went to bed, turned on the juice and after a while I was warm again. It just took longer this time. I figured better to get the shots than get the shingles. Pretty much everything I heard about them was bad. I even remember Terry Bradshaw talking about them. Probably would not have been quite as bad if I hadn't put off getting the shot. Just stubborn I suppose.
----------------------------------------Anyway, stay safe and healthy. Cheers

Well, just nuked my Ubuntu cruncher doing an update to the gorilla version. File permission issue. I'll shut it off until I get time to dig into the file system and find which one is a PITA. Maybe I should install what your running joe, which i forget which one. Mint?

Maybe I should install what your running joe, which i forget which one. Mint? Yes, I am running a couple of different versions of Linux Mint, versions 17, 18 and 20 ( all MATE). As long as the old versions are running without any problems, I just leave them alone. Once the USB stick conks out I will update that system to a new version. Some of those USB sticks have lasted more than a couple of years running on the 24 thread systems. They all just run the live version. I have tried a couple of other distros including Puppy, which all worked, but I did not like them as much. The reason I use the USB sticks is I believe they use the least amount of electricity. About 80% of the finished units have the same amount of time listed for cpu time and elapsed time. The rest only have maybe 1/10th of anhour more elapsed time than cpu time, so I know this distro is quite efficient. Of course these are all dedicated crunchers with nothing else running on them. Good luck with the re-install. Cheers

Yes, I did work on it for while, but I could not get it to boot. I tried several different things, but put it aside for a while. I will probably give it a fresh look sometime in the later fall and winter. I will try to come at it with a new perspective. If I do get it running I will let you know.
