Hey Joe, you and Bearcat should take vacations to someplace warmer ... say Nome, Alaska. It was 55F here today and not raining for a change.![]() I saw those temps up there. Usually your weather comes to us in about 5 days. Don't think we need to warm or flooding will be a nightmare for Minnesota.

That Nome weather finally arrived. It was in the mod 30's today with rain. Coupled with the warm weather yesterday, the melt is on. It has turned my driveway into a sea of slush. It was nice when it was frozen, just like pavement, but now we will be in the freeze and thaw cycle. Based on the forecast, with warm days and cool nights in the 20's, I think it will be cleared out in a week or 10 days. The major snow piles will take a lot longer. At least it is not below zero (F).

Just got a email from Newegg. $499.00 for a 16 core threadripper. Not to bad. Now if the 32 core would drop allot, then I would get excited. Same here on my driveway. Slush now frozen. Will be glad when we are in the 50’s. Looks like 40’s next week.

Spring is finally here. Thank god. Just hope flooding is minimal. 3/4 of the snow in my yard is gone. Started looking at PSU's. Went to open up the computer and boy was the dust thick. Didn't get a chance to clean it last year due to the back surgery. Took it outside, blew it all out (looked like a dust storm). Plugged it in to my APC, fired it up. Died. Second time it stayed on about a minute, died. Just to make sure it wasn't the APC, plugged it the wall. So far its working. When those batteries in a APC start to go, PC shuts down. Starting with 6 units to crunch. Will monitor it, then build up. If it dies, will be ordering the PSU. Will go cheap this time with a Bronze, half the cost of a gold.

Bumped it to 12 threads before bed, just to see if it would last the night. Working fine so far. Bumped it up to 18 this morning and see what happens.

Still working good on wall power. Since its an old system, just going to leave it on wall power. Am considering getting rid of both my systems and going to 1 system using AMD big boy chip. My dually case has 12 bays for hard drives. Not sure what I could get for the dually motherboard, chips, memory and hard drive with win7 thats tied to that board. Any ideas Joe?
----------------------------------------BTW, you guys notice you cannot get more wu's than the number of threads your crunching with? I set my computers to 3 days but only get enough to fill my threads crunching.

I don't know of any really good source which will give you any real money for a system like that. I would peruse Craig's list and see if there are any similar systems for sale. If there are, look to see how for much they are selling and, importantly, how long they have been for sale. If they have been for sale for more than one to two months and have not moved, they are overpriced. There are a couple of used computer stores around St. Cloud which you could call and see if they are interested in purchasing the system, but I would not hold my breath on getting a good price from any of them. If you list it on Craig's List you may just get the buyer you need, but there does seem to be quite a bit of product out there, but not too much high end stuff. The other thing you might consider is to donate it to a non-profit and take a tax deduction for a charitable donation for its value. I know the Twin Cities has some that might take it. Try here or here. I might use one of these for some old systems I have I really should get out of my storage areas. They all work, but the electricity they use for the work they get done makes them cost too much for crunching. Good luck. Cheers
Sgt. Joe

Well, looks like mother nature will show her wrath. If estimates come true, 12-16 inches of snow. Back my still hurts from the weeks of constant snow blowing. Time to get the snow blower prepped. Be safe folks.
