Since the Smash Childhood Cancer units have run out, I have switched most of my machines to the Zika project. I still have one crunching MCM, but Zika is the only project left which is running VINA units which are much more efficient on Linux. I am attempting to the most bang for my buck by running MCM on the Windows machines and the VINA on Linux. Based on today's totals Zika appears to be more generous with the points than SCC was. Once SCC gets new units, I will switch back to that project.
----------------------------------------I am still curious to see how the three new climate projects will perform on each of the systems. I hope they start the betas on them soon. Cheers

Yello chaps.
----------------------------------------Sorry to spam your great thread with mearely local weather forecast. Well do it anyhow.. Winter, I mean arctic winter, you know, the real northern item, has return to this side of planet. Oddly I do not feel myself cold on these temperatures when outdoors. I surely did latest decade when here was some Mediterranean type of "winter" (lukewarm&moist), but now when temp get really down (old good times), I just do not feel cold, just having time of my life. I cannot explain. https://aijaa.com/6ii5hx ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by ultimaThule at Jan 27, 2019 11:58:50 AM] |

I cannot explain. https://aijaa.com/6ii5hx I always enjoy hearing from you. It's been awhile now. Hope all is well with you. Yes, winter has returned here also. We are looking at our coolest week in several years. We are looking at highs from 5 to -13 F (-14 to -25 C) and lows of -5 to -30 F (-14 to -34 C). We have been having somewhat of a snow drought, but might get 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) of snow starting later today. The wind is expected to pickup a bit too, with gusts up to 40 mph (65 kph). I think I will be staying home tonight. I need to change the chicken waterers twice a day now since even with heat lamps they are close to freezing tight. However, the servers in the shed are enjoying the cold. They run really well in this kind of weather. Hope you are enjoying your winter. Cheers

This is much better today. The sun is out and the temperature is 32 F (0 C). It was a little cool earlier in the week with -33 F (-36 C) on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The wind on Wednesday was nasty. No complaints here, because it was about 20 degrees cooler up by the Canadian border. I did finally break down and buy a base warmer for one of the chicken waterers. I should have done that years ago. I got the last one or I would have bought two of them.

Have 2 sick computers since doing updates for OS and boinc. waking up to dead computers. My dual processor is worst. Will be low on points until I can figure it out. One weird thing is my dually has a wireless usb plug to connect to the internet. The light on it is stead like there is traffic but don't have anything running like boinc. May just get 5 days worth then unplug it to see if it still shuts off. Super micro board and know its once of the boards that the Chinese hack crap was involved on boards built in china. Hope to figure it out soon.

Nothing yet. Building up slowly for number crunched at a time. Don't think super micro would admit the issue since allot of their boards are used in big corporations. Then again, most motherboards are made their anyways. Just seems weird my wireless light is constantly blinking. Did a full anti virus scan, scanned with malwarebytes, nothing found. My hex is back up to strength. Will let you know if I find something.
