Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It bites using the app info file. Unable to get betas. Anyone know if the beta wu's can be programmed into the app info file?

Upgrade to BOINC 7.0.44 and use the app_config file. 1000x easier to set up and easy to get betas. Don't torture yourself any more with the app_info which will be blocked by WCG before too long anyway. wink
Learn the app_config way now so you'll be ready for the change.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Hello fellows smile

Some busy here....
I think I perform great wisdom if I made collective apology to everybody behalf of Europe.
Poi you going to hear about this.

Not working directly with this so start to hear rumors until now about it.

Basically it is injection of USA laws directly to Europe.
What makes this difficult is that it will aim directly to person and costs are on Europe site, so it is not really unfair to say that somebody has outsource tax collection.
Personally do not mind myself, still remember Marshall-aid.

But far as I have hear, they consider this most unfair on southern Europe, I think main reason for this is *Switzerland, which did handle this so very different way.
Switz model goes 35% withhold tax, it is split to portion 75% / 25%.
25% stays on Switz cover costs and 75% is collected to bigger pool to hide individuals and returned to government, which passport was used to open account.
USA model goes 30% withhold tax by person.
Everything goes directly to USA or person details must be isolated.

Hear some echoes that USA citizens are not simply accepted as customers automatically. One reason is that breaking confidentiality, is something that is against most peoples personal code of conduct.
Another one is large amount of voluntary work done to IRS, most people here need to earn they salary so this is very huge problem to individual and for his/hers employee.
Third one is that there is more comers than places, think there is twelve bank applying license just for Lux and there is some grand size Chinese players among them.
So it is most easy and profitable to be picky right now.

As mentioned, do not mind myself and I think most people here on North either.
But would not be surprised if USA-passport is not most welcome in southern part of this continent.
So sorry about those wine belt dudes.

* They apply 2003/48/EU directive to Europe, so there is actually three country on ยง10.
Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland. Belgium use automatic exchange of information now a days.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Think I will adjust gpu, mem and power higher at the same time to see if I get locked up again. Was adjusting just the gpu. CCC shows I can go up to 1400 but don't think its possible unless I want a china syndrome.

Just checked, my power control is +3%.

Anyone else running out of GPU tasks to crunch every now and then?

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Looks like our warm up will be short lived. Another deep freeze coming up. Brrrr.

As far as I'm concerned, these things are worth their weight in gold.

This is an effort to get the "fat cats" to pay their fair share of the taxes just like the rest of us. I am not sure I agree with the IRS's methods because I do not fully understand all of the implications involved in this issue. It does seem to me it is unfair of the rich to use anonymous accounts to hide wealth for the sole purpose of avoiding the paying of taxes. They are the recipients of the benefits the taxes pay for as well as I am so they should pay their fair share. I do not begrudge them their wealth or earnings as some of them have worked very hard to accumulate what they have. But if we all worked as hard as some of the rich in avoiding the paying of lawful, legitimate taxes we would only be defrauding ourselves. Nobody likes to see the government spend money unwisely or foolishly, but we all know the government needs revenue to provide the goods and services which are necessary to having a well run civilization. We are all in this together so everyone needs to do their part.
OK, I will get off my soapbox now.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Sounds like a pretty reasonable soapbox to me.

Regardin Jean-Jacques Rommes, cost for large scale bank about IT and HR resources is 150 000 000.
There is 166 banks just in Lux, so please do the math.
As far as I can count, this is colony category operation.

IRS also refuse to make any co-operation to another directions.
If European government would ask IRS to hunt down their citizens just to be sure, they would not really receive any information just for fun.

Sure is interesting social experiment.
I miss Reagan already crying
