@Sgt.Joe: You are correct as it unseasonally low. Forecast is for temps to be back in the low-mid 90's. 91F today. Anything under body tempature is good here.
----------------------------------------![]() @Brink: What a great trip. Just prepare for temps over 100F (maybe much higher) until you get to the coast. The record high for Vegas in July is 117F. I predict the Channel Islands will be your high point. http://www.channel.islands.national-park.com/ I've been there a couple of times. Have a good time. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Jul 2, 2012 4:04:20 PM] |

He took care of various IT and communication equipment. He said there were a number of times when the thermometers maxed out at 120F(48.8C), so he knew it was hotter than that. They kept the IT equipment 15 degrees lower than the ambient temperature because that was all the AC could handle. But he said surprisingly the equipment held up OK. He said the constant battle with the dust was worse than the heat. I can only imagine what that was like. So, I am thankful it is not any worse. Cheers Cheers

Cheers Cheers Hottest temps I've been in is Oklahoma City 110 in July 1996. God it was hot...and humid too!! Drove down with my dad in a S10 Chevy truck with NO AIR (it came with no air, my dad was cheap). We pulled a car back to Minnesota, the truck had a 4 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. We pulled back a Chevy Citation. I don't think we got that thing in 5th gear unless we were going down a hill. If you put your arm out the window while driving it got hotter! What a nightmare. You know what Ray Romano says about Las Vagas heat... I'd rather be in Las Vegas 104 degrees than New York 90 degrees, you know why? Legalized prostitution. In any weather that takes the edge off. RAY ROMANO, on Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist I would have picked a different time to go birding in California but I have some business I have to take care of on one of the weekends I'm there, so we made a trip out of it. Duluth could get pounded again with big rain tonight... |

You've just barely got me beat on hottest temp you've been in, Brink. The hottest I've been in was 109 F (actual temp, not heat index) in Omaha. Can't remember whether it was in 1994 or 95 -- those were the only two summers we lived there. Glad I didn't have to drive for hours without AC in that, though.

I hate to see that Duluth could get it again. My poor hometown! I love Duluth, it's my favorite city in MN. An awesome birding city! I go up at least twice a year. On the plus side of this rain, the BIG lake has raised 4 inches with that last storm. That is very good news since it has been dropping quite badly in the past decade or two. |

Wow, it's hard to imagine enough rain to raise a body of water as big as Lake Superior 4 inches.

Think the hottest I've been in was 115 when I was in desert storm, in September. Seen 112 while stationed at ft hood Texas. Always thought it was BS when someone says it's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk, until I did it in Texas. Looks like a few more days of heat. 82 by Sunday. Hate to see my electric bill next month. Try to stay cool folks!
