Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Like the webcam of the eagle nest.

Weather nice as can be this morning, but heat is on the way. Not only heat, but humidity. Just heard on the radio the temperature will be in the mid 90's to 100F (35 to 38 C) on Wednesday with dew points in 70's. Might have to shut down the crunchers in the outbuilding, at least during the heat of the day. We'll have to see.

Cheers

Darn now it is raining, mother sure seems to be soaking...
I do not how about there, but here I can see some 20fps, so really some addicting thing to watch... Leopard kids is my favorite...
Quite amazing what nest need to stand when storm hit it...

Aporpoo, birds are actually falcons , to be more precise.

About eagles, here on Thule there is hundred €uro reward on every new nest...
On another hand, 7400€ fee and criminal charge (with it own fine) if hunting any...
Also tree with nest is prohibit, even they do build several spare nests.. So most of those are actually something for rainy day..
Government really likes to protect those birds here..

It was difficult to tell what kind of a bird it was, I just assumed it was an eagle based on the size of the nest. Here it is also prohibited to hunt eagles or to disturb their nests or the trees they are in. Minnesota has quite a healthy population of bald eagles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bald_Eagle which mostly eat fish. We also have some peregrine falcons which have established nests on some of the power plant smoke stacks.

Brink please stop reading tongue
Öbaut local birds, there is one mouth watering abnormality here..
Because EU laws, Barnacle Goose has been prohibited and there fore it population here has grow something like two figures on percentages per year..
Even on dense zone on metropolitan area, there is something like 7000 of these, this is some common view here:

Sometimes it just comes to my mind that if I ever get unemployment, have a really long vacation or something that would aloud me to change my sleep pattern to nocturnal.
I think there is possibility that I would end up wondering on those meadows with garden scissors on moonlight drooling

Nööyp, I have never eat those here but on southern Europe those can cost something like 100€/kg (54 US$/lb)....

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We're getting the heat here today -- the temp is "only" about 98 but the heat index is 113. I got up at 6:00 to get the dogs walked before it got hot, but it was already 80 degrees then. I am thankful that we have AC, and I feel for the people who don't.
