Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I have a total of 19 cores crunching for wcg

9 cores at my house the rest on family and friends machines

Awful lot you got....
I did add i5 (two physical core) to my pool, it's physically on some very remote location. Do not have possibility to check it weekly or anything..
Unfortenately it just does not keep running for some reason... I think it is overheating or something... It just dies...
Named it as Darnier... You know, after Dornier biggrin

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Ou poi, Darnier is still up...... Luv when that happens...

It's craptop, last time I close lid and dashed it to bookshelf...
Now left it wide open on table top ..... Maybe it now run better...
There is nothing like A.C; so temperature on that room can climb something like +35'C (+95'F) on these sunny days.....
Hope it keeps running, then I would have 4xi5 plus some work items....

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It is looking like we are going to be in the midst of a heat wave. There is plenty of heat to the south - 118 F (47.7C) reported in Kansas yesterday. The seven day forecast here is for 90+F(32C) for next week with maybe a 100F(37.7C) in the mix for a day or two. High humidity also. Just thankful it is not worse like elsewhere.

Had three transient power outages last night. Cause unknown, but all machines came back up without problems.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Sgt Joe, it sounds as if your part of MN is in for the same weather we are.

I'm thankful that we have AC, and as you say, that it isn't likely to be as bad as elsewhere. I have had to cut back on GPU crunching and reduce CPU cores as well.

Awful situation in the Wash DC area with temps over 100 and hundreds of thousands of people without power.

Hey Sgt.Joe and friends!
You guys have my sympathy. Come on out here to the Sierra foothills. Today will be 84F with 2 mph sustained delta breeze and 58F dew point. I'll get out the lawn chairs but you have to bring your own beer.
Cheers all.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Just looking at my outside weather station. 97F. Looks to be a hot week ahead. Tried fishing this morning. Zippo except one norther. Even the fish thinks its to hot and stay on the bottom. If it wasn't for AC, my crunchers would be off. Good luck surviving the heat.

And I thought all you Californians sweltered in the summertime, except for the mountains. You have the weather and I have the beer.

Cheers

I will be in SoCal in 10days on a birding trip with my wife and son.
Fly into Las Vagas and rent a car. Hoover dam is my first stop, never seen it. Then we will be birding in Joshua Tree national park, Kern County, then to Ventura County and the Channel Islands. 13 days in all. Can hardly wait! biggrin

That sounds like a good time even if it is at the height of summer. Hope you get some nice pictures.

Cheers
