----------------------------------------There is something like highway, but not really any traffic.. On office hours it is easier to get pic from road without cars that with cars on it.... Counted last minute and there was 14 cars total.... Some silents country road (with six lanes)..... ![]() ![]() |

We have a few famous storm chasers in MN tonight.
Seems it is setting up perfectly for tornadic t-storms tonight. Reed Timmer is chasing here and has a live stream going. He's a good one to follow on twitter. |

Thanks for the link. Was considering doing the county spotter but the wife gave me the eye (one eye death look) and thought I was nuts. Used to be you needed a ham license but now cell phones are used. Is this guy a county spotter or NWS pro?

I guess the awful weather ended up in Duluth. The photos of the flooding are heartbreaking and scary.

Yea, boy did Duluth get pasted. 10.10 inches (26 cm) of rain. The whole north eastern part of the state got massive rains. The news showed some huge washouts and streams turned into raging torrents. They have a lot of damage to clean up.
----------------------------------------I thought we would get a lot of rain also in St. Cloud, but we only got about .75in (2 cm). We were already pretty wet so that was plenty. No storm damage here. Cheers

Another side of Nordic model...
----------------------------------------Last year I took my vacation bonus as two extra holiday week with full salary. This year I took it as money and I think it is last that when this behavior occurs on this life. Basically we do have one the most hardest income taxation here and it is _very_ progressive.... On this slip because my extra bonuses, my income tax went up 16,5%.... In praxis, I do not get anything myself that would make any real difference... On another hand, I could have two extra holiday week with full salary..... Ou darn..... Yes please, resilar on ice... ![]() |

Basically we do have one the most hardest income taxation here and it is _very_ progressive.... On this slip because my extra bonuses, my income tax went up 16,5%.... I understand from where you are coming. But, at the end of the day, even with the additional income tax, you have more money in your pocket. When I was working, I would have this discussion with fellow workers about how to get compensated for overtime (we had a choice to either take the money or to get additional time off - either at time and one half.) I would always take the money because even though I would get charged the marginally higher rate for earning the extra money for that paycheck, the real effect would come at the end of the year, because your total income taxes are calculated on your annual earnings. Even if your taxes withheld on a check with overtime were higher for that pay period, it would not materially effect my bracket by the end of the year, thus I would get a bigger refund for overpayment. Forced savings if you will. Besides, I always had a use for the extra money, to get ahead on bills and so forth. Besides, I always carried a vacation balance, so if I needed time off from work, I had it available. Some people would always take their compensation in extra time off. They were usually the ones who complained later that we were not paid adequately. In their world they valued the time away from work more highly than the money. A few of them just hated their jobs so they did not want to be there anyway. That being said, there is value to either approach, it is how one sets priorities. I hope you enjoy both the extra money and any time away from work. Cheers

They may have been filming that day for the show. He also does tornado tours. I believe he lives in Norman Oklahoma. |
