It still says 60% whats the deal? Well the deal is, that it gets updated once in a while, about once a month. If u follow the posts of LawrenceHardin and Larry Fine above yours, u'd seen that at extrapolations of Oct.20, we were about 60%, so today probably 66/67%. U can follow the progress here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewProject.do?projectShortName=faah The Work Unit Counts gets updated every six hours and stood at noon on 29,793,192 As for the end of Jan.07 prediction, though WCG still growing, Human Proteome Folding 2 has gotten back in production again plus the batches of Help Defeat Cancer have become much longer to crunch i.e. there is more work hours for more computer to take part in HDC taking resource away from FAAH. cheers

From the last update from the personnel managing FAAH it is estimated that it will take about 29,000 years of processing to complete FAAH Phase 2. Presently 19,808 years have been spent processing FAAH Phase 2. This puts us at about 68%. Phase 2 should be completed in late January or early February.

That sounds about right. I think that agrees with the project scientists' expectations, but I'm not sure whether it takes into account other projects launching and HPF2 restarting between now and then.
And let's not forget that a Phase 3 or Phase 2b is quite on the cards. Hopefully the FAAH scientists will share their plans soon. I assume any extensions will have to be approved just like a new project, but since the working relationship is there and the software boarded, it should be fairly trivial. FAAH had no issues at all going from Phase 1 to Phase 2, but there I think there was no change to the software at all. I know development on AutoDock has continued, so it is quite possible that the scientists will want to explore new ground, and they may have been planning it for a while. If boarding the new version is a significant job, then WCG will have to slot the task into their already bulging schedule. We'll have to wait and see, but it would be great if the project scientists shared their plans with us. |

At this time it is not possible to estimate the effects on the daily processing time and completion time of FAAH Phase 2 when other projects come on line. Once such effects are known the remaining amount of time required to finish FAAH Phase 2 can be divided by the average daily processing time to produce an adjusted estimated completion time.

We have just reached 20,020 years of processing for FAAH Phase 2. We started Phase 2 at 14,400 years (processing time for Phases 1a and 1b) and are now at 34,420 years. About 9,000 more years of processing to go or about 3 more months give or take a week or two, assuming the rate of processing remains the same or increases.

Hey Larry, was just noting that today we're passing 30 million WU's processed on FAAH.

Hey Larry, was just noting that today we're passing 30 million WU's processed on FAAH. cheers Sounds good. Lawrencehardin will be interested in hearing about this. I would like to see what his current estimated per cent complete of FAAH Phase 2 is. My method seems to over estimate the per centage currently completed and his under estimates it but the average of the two seems to be accurate. |

I would like to see what his current estimated per cent complete of FAAH Phase 2 is. That is easy enough to calculate. Copying my old figures: 28,047,984 results at 60% completion of Stage 2 22,529,595 results at 40% completion of Stage 2 - - - - - - - - 05,518,389 results = 20% completion Therefore we will probably need to do another 11,036,778 results to complete Stage 2 at 39,084,762 results. Progress should increment 1% per 275,920 results. Currently, FAAH has 29,999,597 results at 9 Nov 2006 at 18:06 UTC so 29,999,597 28,047,984 ------------- 01,951,613 ( now 7 * 275,920 = 1,931,440 so ) -1,931,440 ------------ 00,020,773 remainder Therefore we have completed 67% of Stage 2 (plus small change, less than 0.1%) It would have been easier if I could have found my solar-powered calculator. My battery-powered calculator needs a new battery. Lawrence |
