The Edwardians are gentlefolk from a by-gone age, an age when people were polite and courteous to each other, and showed respect to the elderly and infirm. Sure ... but can you brew beer? ![]() Cheers. |

Well, we've held out longer than I thought, but tomorrow we will be passed by Kozeny and McCubbin, dropping us to #90. As of tonight we still have more than a million point lead on all the other teams that are gaining on us, so it should give us a _little_ more time -- probably at least three weeks or longer. By then there should be 18,400 teams or more, so even if we get passed by two more teams we will still be in the top HALF percent at #92.

That TACC-team has passed us and it's moving up very fast.
You should see them soon. Keep crunching. Cheers, René |

That TACC-team has passed us and it's moving up very fast. Yikes!!!! Yes, we'll see them pass us in about three ... or at the most ... four more days. They're averaging over a million points a day, and they came out of nowhere. I look behind us occasionally, but at a million points a day, a team can come from 200th place to 100th place in just three weeks, and I don't usually look that far behind us that often. I mean, they just snuck up on us. Well, I guess that is going to shorten our life in both the Top Half Percent and also the Top 100 quite a bit, but at least it should still be a couple of weeks before we get passed again. You should see them soon. Keep crunching. Cheers, René It's a shame that I haven't been able to recruit more folks. Nobody seems to care. Sighhhh. Cheers. |

That is a shame yes, ah well someone has to set a good example. Chrunch on. Cheers, René |

It's a shame that I haven't been able to recruit more folks. Nobody seems to care. Sighhhh. I have received one outright rejection ("don't even go there") and one polite smile followed by "that's interesting".. Obviously I'm not a salesman. I'll second that sighhhhh. Cheers FB |

To catch everyone else up on my own statistics, yesterday our team managed to eak out 74,731 points - not a bad day again, overall, Brewers, thanks for sticking with us!
A couple of times in the last week and a half, we have topped 80,000 points. I have to thank Bill and his latest round of recruiting for adding that last 5,000 points per day to our tally sheet. If there are any computer geeks following my personal odyssey into quad-core processors, I have now pushed my Intel Core2Quad (q6600, rated at 2.4GHz, with a 1066 MHz FSB) to 2.64Ghz, 1184 MHz memory bus, and faster memory refresh and PCI/E (about 15%). It averaged, over the last 2 weeks, 10900 points per day, and 18 results in 3 1/2 days of computing time per calendar day. All in all, a successful experiment. I will continue to push it higher while it's still winter, but I suspect I will have to back it down in the summer just because of heat output (it's rated at 105 watts at 100% speed, and since overclocking also involves raising the core voltage in addition to pushing more cycles through the silicon, I'm guessing it's pulling 130-135w now - and going up) Cheers FB |

Thanks, Fred, for your dedication and all that you have done. I'm confident that I am much more computer literate than the average person, having done a little bit of programming, using HTML and designing my own web sites, and even doing a _little_ bit of computer hardware maintenance, but you folks who are into overclocking blow my mind and are WAY far ahead of me. Do you cool your computers with cold water? For those less familiar with computers, I am ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS. Many overclockers pump cold water through heat sinks on their motherboards to remove excess heat.
Anyway, I'm a big GEEK in other ways -- the science of brewing beer and growing hops to brew beer. I'm getting ready to do a double partigyle in a little while (water is heating). A couple of weeks ago I did a TRIPLE partigyle. As for growing hops -- if any homebrewers are interested, my Grow-Hops Yahoo Group has already grown to 791 members in just over eight months. If interested, please visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Grow-Hops Cheers. ![]() |
