SNIP

Just hanging out waiting for the stats to change. Should be interesting to see if we gain some rank today. I'm hoping we jump up a couple spots at least by Sunday. We will see....

Many thanks to Brink who probably got us up there a couple of weeks earlier than we otherwise would have.

Thanks Dave, it's good to be here.
So your from Minnesota too eh?

Well, since your a brewer...have you tried some of the Surly beer from MN's newest micro brew? Especially the Bourbon-Bender? (only available in kegs) Oh!!! good stuff.
He uses old bourbon casts somehow in the process and the end result is truly fantastic IMHO.

Brink,

No, I have heard a lot (mostly good especially if you like hops) about the Surly beers, but haven't had a chance to go out and taste them yet. Watching young ones limits my time at the bars these days! We are working on trying to get out a little more so maybe soon I will get a chance to taste some.

Re: Eat, Drink, and be Crunching (Team HomeBrewers Welcomes You)

Thanks Bill, and happy Thanksgiving to all our US members.

I am back in the country, in town, and at home, and working on getting back up to speed. I have put 5 machines on line so far, and hope to have more this weekend, and the remainder by next week sometime. Unfortunately my points standings do not yet reflect the additional computing power, but that should continue to improve.

After that, I will be working on recruiting materials for the Homebrewers team. I would like to know how many members (or guests, heh) would be willing to take posters, fold-ups, etc to their local brew outlets in person. This is probably our highest chance of recruitment, as would be brew clubs in those towns lucky enough to have them.

I would like an honest answer, as this will determine the amount of effort I put into slick "marketing" items instead of mass-exposure mailings.

Let me know please.

Thanks again to everyone for their contributions, and support.

Fred B

Welcome back Fred!

It will be good to see the impact of getting your systems back online. We should be pushing 150K a day with everyone crunching (mostly you and brinktastee).

I will think about the poster idea and get back to you. I am slightly active in one local club and know some people in a second, I need to find the time to get out to another meeting and remember to bounce the idea off a few members.

Re: Eat, Drink, and be Crunching (Team HomeBrewers Welcomes You)

Hello, everyone. Been too busy for a couple of days to post. Glas to see that FredB is back and doing okay, and that BrinkTastee is still with us. Anyway, to respond to your inquiry, Fred, there is only one homebrew shop that I know about here in Arkansas. I think they will be willing to put up a poster, and I'll certainly deliver one if they will -- in fact, I'll give them a sales pitch the next time that I'm down there. I have already invited them, on a couple of previous visits, to check out our team site, etc. I'll have to give it another try.

I'm having a homebrew right now which is actually a bit disappointing because I can taste the astringency. Either I sparged too long or used water that was too hot, or a combination of the two. It's drinkable -- for me -- but nothing that I'd want to offer to anyone.

I purchase BeerToolsPro last month, but it still has glitches in it that I've been working hard to resolve with the developer. Looks like a very promising program.

Good to finally be in the Top-100. biggrin

Cheers.

Yes it is, and thanks to the new members who've put us here. Welcome, Minnesotans (at home or "birding it" down here in AZ)!

Cheers

Re: Eat, Drink, and be Crunching (Team HomeBrewers Welcomes You)

I purchased BeerToolsPro last month ... snip
What's this? I haven't heard of it...
It's the newest brewing software available, and is supposed to surpass BeerSmith and ProMash, etc. It's from BeerTools.com -- here is their promo material. I think the program has tremendous potential, and a number of us have been providing feedback to the developers via the BTP forum to try to work out many bugs. We have made a lot of progress, but I will say, frankly, that I would have expected many of these problems to have been worked out during Beta testing and prior to releasing it on the market. I think they may have been a bit hasty in the release, but I don't mind too much helping them work out the bugs, as long as they do get them worked out. One word of caution: the promo material is or was a bit misleading, in my opinion, because it speaks of access to 5,400 recipes; I'd swear that before I bought it, the website never said anything about on-line connectivity being necessary, but in any event, even now, it doesn't make clear that there are some limitations to that -- particularly that you have a limit of downloading 50 recipes per month, which is probably enough at one time, but still..., and also they leave out the little detail that you need to be a GOLD member (annual dues) to have unfettered access. I'm still waiting to resolve that point with BTP.

Cheers.

Re: Eat, Drink, and be Crunching (Team HomeBrewers Welcomes You)

Rob,

Congrats on reaching 1 million points with HomeBrewers!

All,
Looks like team #99 is a long way ahead given that it took only three days of Brink's help to get from 105 to 100 and now we have been at 100 for three or four days and Fred is even coming back up to speed.

servowriter and I will have to work on our other friend to join WCG.

Well, we are 355,956 behind the next team. Yesterday we got 141,380 and the team in front of us got 42,137. So if my math is correct and the daily numbers stay the same, or close, we should hit 99 by...ok my math stinks but it should be soon.
