SCC is giving me resends only at the moment. This means that while there are a bunch of resends (I have some "waiting to be sent"), that because they need to be OS matched if a previous machine has completed the WU, that some OSes won't see many SCC WUs.
----------------------------------------Is OPNG sending out anything? I'll guess No. Is MCM picking up the slack? are enough going out?? I'm guessing many will try to stockpile a few extra WU to get through tomorrow's outage, which will also impact the flow of WUs. Find your backup project, or use the downtime to upgrade Boinc and do machine maintenance [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at Sep 25, 2023 2:16:34 PM] |

Unixchick,
Good summary of where we seem to be at present; I hope the following is of interest/use... SCC is giving me resends only at the moment. This means that while there are a bunch of resends (I have some "waiting to be sent"), that because they need to be OS matched if a previous machine has completed the WU, that some OSes won't see many SCC WUs. There are almost certainly two distinct sources of resends., the normal "more work than can be handled" cases (all platforms) and a substantial amount of work that seems to have been absorbed by a Linux cluster of some form (see the "Is there any way of finding your wingman’s host-Id?" thread in the SCC1 forum for a [short] discussion of this.)I suspect lots of Linux/FreeBSD users are picking up large numbers of retries (the switch from new work to nothing but retries was quite pronounced on my systems!), but I'm also seeing the "committed to other platforms" message that suggests there are lots of "Waiting" retries for Windows, Mac(?) and Android(??) as well. Is OPNG sending out anything? I'll guess No. I think we may have run that one out for now. over 1.4 million results have been returned for the current target, and as a lot of those will have validated without a wingman I reckon we've probably processed over 800,000 work units for 6wcz_ntd-BGLN463.Is MCM picking up the slack? are enough going out?? There will be a lot of MCM1 retries available for Linux for the same reason as for SCC1(!) and they seem to be getting out now (if what my systems are getting is typical); with luck that should free up more "new" work for other platforms :-)I'm guessing many will try to stockpile a few extra WU to get through tomorrow's outage, which will also impact the flow of WUs. Yup! -- good advice!Find your backup project, or use the downtime to upgrade Boinc and do machine maintenance Cheers - Al. P.S. What I'm dreading is nodes of that compute cluster hoovering up retries, which will then need another retry down the line and... [rinse and repeat] They were certainly still picking up new SCC1 tasks just before that tap ran dry :-( I hope the WCG techs can reach out to whoever's running those nodes and either help sort them out or tell them they aren't welcome if they can't/won't play nice. |

I suspect lots of Linux/FreeBSD users are picking up large numbers of retries (the switch from new work to nothing but retries was quite pronounced on my systems!), but I'm also seeing the "committed to other platforms" message that suggests there are lots of "Waiting" retries for Windows, Mac(?) and Android(??) as well. Both are happening here. I have several hundred SCC resends in various queues. I am also seeing the "committed to other platforms" message on Windows, but not Linux. This would make some sense since there is a Linux cluster which seems to be the source of the reason for all these resends. Edit: I pulled all the valids for tonight and out of about 2000 there were 1200 _2, _3, and even an _4 resend. The techs really should look into this and cut off the offending cluster. Cheers

just a small bit of info to add... as a MacOS user. It classifies me as a Linux user, and give me resends from all forms of other Linux users.
There is also the Linux mismatch bug for SCC which causes extra resends too. I'm so close to 180 day badge. I'm hoping I can get it before the SCC project is done. |

Something strange is going on today (Sept. 27, 2023).
----------------------------------------When I try to look at my results, the system is not responding, just churning. I wonder if the system is having some database problems again. Cheers

Something is definitely wrong.
----------------------------------------Wed Sep 27 003:44 207:23 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable After looking further - I have WUs with many pending validation that haven't been checked and other WUs that are "waiting to be sent" So I do think there is a bigger issue than it first appeared.
