Uh oh. I just saw an ARP unit come in and get stuck downloads... we're not quite out of the woods yet, though it's mostly been good today.

Earlier this afternoon the system tried to download two ARP1 tasks but is getting all choked up.
There are lot more, but this should be enough to geve the idea. It will start retrying in several hours. If I try to force it, it tries, but increases the retry time.

Painful is an understatement. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one, after having aborted a bunch of WU's in the last 24 hours that hang on the download.

Oddly my Android tablet seems to have no issues but my PC does. I'm still scratching my head over that one.

I'm betting it will still be this way in another 12 hours

it's now hours later at 02:30 and i'm having to do constant retrys on the down loads and they keep going in to backoffs of hours, not minutes.. i see no need of running the wcg processors with no chance of anything working without me baby sitting it constantly.

the best part is, WCG sees the downloading task and doesn't ask for more work until it gets unstuck. So you're losing even the chance to draw WUs while in a WU draught... it's a multi-tier Jenga game of problems....

I always thought the backoff logic in BOINC was bonkers. I'd think something like rnd(x) where x increases linearly would be better.

In the meantime, it's necessary to babysit. Seems like I'm only getting OPN1 on ARM and ARP on x86 right now, but still get the occasional stuck transfer.

Edit: Some other tasks came in on my main cruncher, but it's still a hit-or-miss situation to get work, and transfers continue to get stuck.
