I'm agreeing with Jake1402 that the team running WCG at Krembil is totally separate from the SHARCNET team that run the data centre. Whether SHARCNET is an independent commercial organisation or (as is the case) part of the same group will make very little difference to the working relationship between the teams SHARCNET is not a "commercial organization" per se, it is the IT organization for 19 different Canadian universities and institutes. It is their job to support those universities and institutes. But regardless, there was plenty of time, even before the actual transfer started, to get all those organization things, including necessary resources (including support for those!) worked out. Not trying to scramble when summer break comes around, because most people at those universities and institutes will be on summer break/vacation until classes begin again... Ralf |

I got a couple hundred WUs this morning with no network issues.

I have tentatively restarted the 'update every 5 minutes script', on one machine only - I'll turn it off before I go to bed (~6 hours). The "no network issues" might be because very little work is being generated today (compared to yesterday), so there's very little congestion. But I'd like to get a feel for myself of how much is happening.

I now have several hundred work units. There were multiple problems last night, but by this morning the download issue(s) were resolved. All of the downloads happened without any manual intervention. I will gradually bring up additional machines in the coming days. I applaud whoever it was who fixed the problem(s).
----------------------------------------Edit: I am glad the research can continue, getting the credit system fixed is small potatoes at this point. Cheers

I'm not sure it's fixed - just sensible management for the weekend. The big beast (where I restarted the script) has got no OPNG tasks at all, but a little baby low-power device gets enough MCM1 tasks to keep it happy. Just keep it gentle for the time being.

It is definitely not fixed, but certainly less pronounced so far during the weekend. My guess is less hosts updating their BOINC clients while people are out of the office over the weekend... Ralf |

This is still far, far and far away from working. My machine is up 12 hours a day and today I got like 80 tasks. The rest of the time is no tasks available.
I am running a 5950X and so far nothing really happens. |

Currently, my x86 machines are getting enough tasks to keep crunching (though OPNG dried up early this weekend), but it's very hit-or-miss on ARM for the last day or so. I haven't been seeing stuck downloads.

Finally got some WUs today (my first since February). Very happy to see them crunching along. There are some network errors in the log from Friday, but it looks like that was ironed out (no errors since).
----------------------------------------Hopefully the results will be useful to the scientist. [Edit 1 times, last edit by NightBlade at Aug 22, 2022 6:20:17 PM] |

There are some network errors in the log from Friday, but it looks like that was ironed out (no errors since). Well, lucky you!Hopefully the results will be useful to the scientist. Can't tell exactly how many new WUs I could possibly gotten today, but I know that more and more completed WUs are being purged from the Result list, with the associated stats apparently vanishing in thin air. Not counting in any possibly new WUs (resends?), the overall count of WUs on the result page has gone down from 1040 (3am PDT) to 977 (12pm PDT)... So, enjoy it while it lasts... Ralf |
