The Krembil peeps deserve some grace for having this... suddenly become their responsibility. This is a key point that a lot of folks seem to be missing. While nearly everyone here had great respect for the IBM techs and maybe are acting out because of this ("Hey, things worked when they were in charge, why can't you do so? You must be incompetent!"), let's remember that IBM corporate dumped WCG and Krembil was bold enough to try to pick it up. It isn't as if Krembil did a forceful takeover of the project from IBM. The other alternative was to have no WCG. We should be commending the Krembil team for stepping up to save the project even though they had to gain the technical expertise to do so. |

I'm still patiently waiting. I can only imagine the difficult task you are working on. Just keep on doing the great job you are doing so far; most of we old-time WCGs will be here when you are done.

Well, let's put this in perspective...
They just spent 4 months of manpower and who knows how many Canadian $ on this transition. If they weren't going to come back, why bother bring up the website and forums? Why bother providing project updates (although I'm still waiting to hear on SCC). Why bother getting a PA person and having that person (finally) start posting? It's not like you're paying for anything (aside from your electricity) or this is for profit. It could be like Cosmology@home where the admin vanished from the site. Things were running, but nobody really knew what they were running or if any of it was actually being used. That was at least a year... (probably more, but I don't recall...I just remember checking in on the project to see what they were doing and if I wanted to crunch it again). It's not a Holy Cow...I've made posts pointing out they (still) haven't just simply posted the WUs are not flowing yet and why they announced their new PA which they weren't using (until a couple days ago). It's just you being a little over dramatic. ;) |

P.S. the one technical detail that has been shared that made me go "ohhhhhh" and gave me some understanding of the issues the team has been dealing with was Websphere. It is a competent piece of sofware, but it is not fun to work with -- to the degree that if I were interviewing somewhere and they told me their stack was based on Websphere, I would likely start thinking about how to gracefully bring the meeting to a conclusion and step away. The Krembil peeps deserve some grace for having this... suddenly become their responsibility. Interesting insight. It would be nice if they shared a bit more of their technical difficulties, but I'm patient. I ran a couple of other things, but wound them down in anticipation of the restart here, so,my electric bill looks a lot better, at least for the moment. Cheers

Just FYI, BOINC still believes it’s https. And the project refuses to attach at http. Gosh there simply is no service to answer to your BOINC client, neither http nor https...Ralf |

My patience is almost endless. I'm not going anywhere. If it takes another month, or another year, then so be it.
Since I do not run any other projects, I'm saving tons of money on my electricity bills. |

I will wait as long as necessary. I'm not going anywhere either. I will be ready to crunch when you are.

Appears that WCG is back up... I just noticed! :) I don't see that I have any WCG tasks running, though. Do I need to do something?
