Re: OpenPandemics - GPU Stress Test

Almost hate GPU tasks, it's almost impossible to use my computer when they are running.
You probably already know this, but you can set the number of frames rendered by the card in the WCG settings.
For some reason the frame cap was active only when i used an NVIDIA gpu, but since i recently switched to an RX 560 i get the card working without limitations. Weird.
Also, open the gates, we are ready cool.

Care to post some pic where ?

Re: OpenPandemics - GPU Stress Test

Howdy!

Forgive me, I'mma bit of'a clod... a link, please to the GPU version of OpenPandemics - COVID-19.

I'm currently running:
Bionic Manager 7.16.7 (x64)
Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.928
CPU: Core i7-6900K @3.20 GHz
Corsair DDR4-2132 - 24.0 GB
Single Nvidia Titian Xp

I thought I'd ticked the "use GPU box" somewhere but HWMonitor reports GPU usage at around 1% to 3% nominal - Max at 17% - so sompthin's goofy... CPU runs close to 90% - 100% when Bionic is running...

Any enlightenment appreciated!

TIA!

There's no special link, just sign up to the openpandemics project and make sure to allow GPU work, this must be set on the online settings page in your device profile and also make sure the local BOINC settings allow GPU work.

Re: OpenPandemics - GPU Stress Test

Do I have to download something to do this? I have the standard version of the BOINC software. I think I have it checked off to do GPU processing but I've never seen it actually use my GPU.

Just go to:

  • go to top right and click Settings
  • go on the left and click Device manager
  • click the profile to modify it, select custom and scroll down
  • find the Graphics section and the line "When displaying graphics, render at most"
  • select the desired number of frames (15 is a bit low, 30 is acceptable, 60 is best but taxing)
  • click save at the end

easy peasy!
