Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

I have not found similar information on whether this is also true for the more recent cards.
Wikipedia is not authoritative, but has a comprehensive list.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units

It looks likely that this list covers only cards made by Nvidia. Nvidia USED TO offer a list covering boards made by other companies, but no longer does. That list showed models that were sometimes built with one GPU, and sometimes with another.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

So, I'm still working on the changes to both the validator and the work unit build applications on the backend. My best guess for the next beta is going to be tomorrow afternoon as I will need to test it against Alpha first. Since these are only on the backend, it does not require much time for testing, but will need to be done.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

@uplinger

Thanks for the update. Just managed to setup 3rd machine for this project:
Win10 PRO / Intel i5-10400 / Intel UHD Graphics 630.
The remaining 2:
Win10 PRO / Intel i7-860 / AMD Radeon HD 7950
Win10 PRO / 2 x AMD Opteron 6386 SE / 2 x Nvidia TITAN

So far my best performer is:
Win10 PRO / Intel i7-860 / AMD Radeon HD 7950
Just curious how the new one will handle the GPU load.
Based on what I saw in the previous posts the most effective set up for Intel UHD 630 is 1CPU + 1GPU (i.e. the Boinc's default) so I am not going to change it.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

I am going to be granting credit based on what the average CPU claims for points on the OPN1 project. Then, I will be using the multiplier which is 20x at the moment to get the starting points per work unit is allocated.
Thanks,
-Uplinger

20x is a good multiplier for GPU-Tasks against CPU-Tasks.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

I'm still working through some issues on the points on my alpha grid which is delaying me from starting the next beta. I will start it as soon as possible which I hope to be later today.

I am currently working on rebuilding work units so we can have a clean beta test going forward.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - March 26 2021 [ Issues Thread ]

FWIW I've received several linux resends from machines running mint. The event logs showed the time limit exceeded error or were completely empty except for the version of BOINC being used.
