Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

Well I've switched my regular 'fishing' routine back on so I'll be able to monitor again as to when I get a few WU's.

I've only done this on the 1 machine though - as I'm now so close to my target that I'm letting the other drain of HST WU's in order that I can manage an orderly halt at Sapphire.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I have gotten batches of HSTB at 03 and 33 past the hour during the morning and early afternoon of UTC 2017 May 19.

The supply of work units is less predictable than it has been. I've had nothing for two-three days then today I've had work units through the day at times I don't remember having seen.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I am finally, if still slowly, approaching a one year badge for HSTB. My life has filled with so many technical/high maintenance matters of late that trying to "babysit" BOINC/WCG across 28 threads finally got to be too much. So, at the beginning of this week, I simply set my profiles for SCC and HSTB, and left them alone, although I did leave the 03/33 scheduled update tasks in place. To my surprise, I've "caught" several workunits this week, and not all at the 03/33 times. So I may just not bother with the extended hunting anymore . . .

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I am still working at my 90-day one. My machine runs 24/7 with a slow 4-core 64-bit Xeon processor. Since I do not get enough HSTB work units, I allow others.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

On 5/22 there were 1,299 WUs
next day 3k
the next 3 following days have been 6k and going up.
Now is a great time to try and get some.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

How do you find out the number of HSTB work units available? I do not know where to look. Once in a while, I get one, but that is not the same thing. In the last two months, I have gotten the following work units.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

We cannot see work units available, but we can see how many work units were returned for a certain day. Hindsight only, unfortunately, but hindsight helps to see a pattern and from that we can guess how many work units are available.

To view these numbers go to the top of the page, click "Research"
select the project you want to see
Left tab "Project Statistics"
Now we see "Total" "Average" and "Yesterday". To see more than just yesterday scroll down to "Project Statistics History" and click the spread of dates you want to see. Don't pay attention to today's date as today is not finished but some WUs slip in as "today" when WCG runs the stats for the previous day.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I'm hoping that when my last running work unit finishes in a few hours I have enough for sapphire. So, I've aborted everything in the queue apart from three insurance work units and turned off the schedule via Start - Windows Administrative Tools - Task Scheduler then right-clicking on the boinc task and selecting (for now) Disable. That's on Windows 10.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

With average 5000 units returned, it probably means roughly the same available. Those are not sufficient for everyone who wants some, especially if you take account of the number of threads each cruncher has.
