Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I set this task scheduler up yesterday on a windows 7 i5 machine, let it run overnight, and got no HSTB tasks :( I made sure to use the time sync program and my time is off by .1 seconds.
The boinc log shows no tasks available, so I guess I am out of luck. Was hoping to get ruby or even sapphire before the project ends.

There are only about 4000 HSTB tasks returned daily. There were 2.2 million tasks returned yesterday. Presumably that is the rate they are going out. That means that HSTB is about 0.2% of the outgoing task. We are just trying to improve our chances above slim. Have patience and fine-tune your technique.

Yep you are right. I picked up 9 wus overnight. Might get a ruby out of it after all smile

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I tested the method of filling the client queue with a days worth of work from another project and then setting the queue to try to fill with 3 days of HSTB only. I've been doing that for about a week and only have picked up a few jobs. I then re-enabled the scheduled boinccmd and now have gotten over 1 day work in both crunchers. I might be getting enough HSTB each night to just leave it that way. I'll know for sure in a few days. My queues currently are full of SCC that take 4x longer to run than advertised.

I went ahead and disabled mine. I'll have enough for ruby once my queued up jobs complete, and figure I wouldn't make it to emerald by only using one quad core i5. Some of these wus are taking over a day on it.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I have 2 quad-core and one 12-core crunchers dedicated to HSTB. The 2 quad-cores can get enough work each night to keep their queues topped off, but the 12-core monster cannot. It was filled up with several days worth of SCC and HSTB, but has slowly worked its way down to less than 1 day of HSTB right now. I will have to again fill the queue with work from another project to keep it from running dry tonight. This particular cruncher has historically not done well with the schedulued boinccmd and I haven't yet figured out why.

joneill003: The number of WUs doesn't matter, only the CPU time. If you can keep the queue filled with HSTB on your quad-core you can reach emerald level in 1-1/2 months; sapphire in 3 months after that. You can do it! Don't give up. cowboy

Yeah, I thought about dedicating more systems to doing HSTB only, but my main target is MCM. It hits the closest to home for me, so it is the most important. I had 130 days on HSTB when I started scheduling the tasks to grab HSTB, just to hit 180 and the next level badge. I gotta admit though, that red background behind the lungs is a bit creepy looking. Almost worth it to grab an emerald just so I don't have to keep looking at it on my contribution page...

Has anyone using this method gotten any work since the shutdown? With the new hosting are the xx:03/xx:33 times still valid?

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I was just going to ask if anyone had had any new work for this project since the move -- I haven't. I wonder if the feeder hasn't been restarted. Maybe there are other more pressing things for the techies to think about at the moment.

Re: Using Scheduled boinccmd to get HSTB Work

I just noticed that I got 6 WUs from a request issued at 19:39:13, so at least they're flowing again.
