Thanks I only have the task at said times above under "project" I have allowed new work with only said project selected. Have I done everything correctly? Only reason I am asking is because I have had no luck in snagging any. Check your client logs from 10:03 UTC. You must also satisfy 2 other conditions for this procedure to work. You must have only HSTB selected and your queue size must be larger than the amount of work your computer has. For example you have the queue size set to 1 day and you have your client request work until there is 1 day of work. Then you change the settings and ask for 2 days and only HSTB. Then when your computer sends a request at xx:03 the server either sends HSTB or nothing. If your client log looks like this: 2986 World Community Grid 3/13/2017 5:03:10 PM Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. then your queue is full and your client isn't requesting work. Read above for the remedy. If your log reads:2987 World Community Grid 3/13/2017 5:03:10 PM Not requesting tasks: don't need 2663 World Community Grid 3/13/2017 3:33:11 AM Requesting new tasks for CPU then there is no work for HSTB. Be sure your clock is set accurately.2664 World Community Grid 3/13/2017 3:33:13 AM Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 2665 World Community Grid 3/13/2017 3:33:13 AM No tasks sent 2666 World Community Grid 3/13/2017 3:33:13 AM No tasks are available for Help Stop TB 2667 World Community Grid 3/13/2017 3:33:13 AM No tasks are available for the applications you have selected. I have no idea if work is available at other times. Now work seems to be flowing freely. SekeRob reports success at other times. I am going to disable my scheduled tasks and see what happens tonight. Cheers ![]() I've got a nice lot of work this morning, have disabled scheduled task. You may ignore the email I sent you last night ![]() |

I think the "boinc procedure" is overly technical. As explained by others a few months ago, you can just pair TB WU with another short duration Project WU. Load 1 day of the short term WU and then change the cache to 4 days and the Project to TB. Each time the short term WU is completed, a request for TB goes out. This way you micromanage only once a day and have a good chance of getting TB. That is how I did it. Good Luck.

I have dedicated one computer to this method and have gotten 18 WUs in the last 3 days. I'll get silver yet! ![]() I plan to go back to SCC as soon as I get Silver. "Each time the short term WU is completed, a request for TB goes out"
Does a short on cache always initiate a fetch call when result files are uploaded (the parts before Ready to Report") ? If not, there's a fix for those who can overcome their dislike of the RTFM (Reading the friendly manual), albeit the techs will even more take issue with load issues if widely adopted (but maybe the "We have deferred your scheduler request due to high load" does not... another excuse to order more hardware (think knreed was hinting at that some months ago when talking about not having upgraded in the last N years) |

Some _0/1 units are available at times other than the 3 & 33 mins slots at 10/11/12+ hours UTC. Example:

Yes tonyh205, how things have changed in a three week period - my 2 computer cache's are constantly full and I've been crunching HST solid for a good long period - so, hopefully, we can start to see the end of the drought period.

I have discontinued this technique as I have reached 1 year on HSTB and am dedicating all my CPUs to SCC now.
----------------------------------------I will be back to HSTB eventually and hopefully this will no longer be needed. If anyone discovers that the HSTB is flowing freely at all times please post here so that those that are using the scheduled update can suspend the task. Also monitor the times that you actually are successful and trim the active time. I was only having success in a 3 hour window at first. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

I've been running SCC with 0.5 days queue, set it to 1 day and HSTB only while I've been home or overnight. Come back later and no HSTB work. Guess I'll have to try it with a bigger queue so I can leave it for longer. ![]() |

mmonnin, I find that the best time to be 'fishing' for HST WU's, is between 10:00 and 13:00 UTC (obviously, you'll have to work out what your equivalent local time is, depending on where you are in the States).

I think that the profile setting Connect to network about every X days must be set to zero for a request to go out every time a WU is completed. Otherwise the client waits to report completion and fetch new work. If the HSTB hopper on the server is replenished all day long, then scheduled BOINCCMD is no longer needed and the procedure RetiredTech described will work. That is what I normally do. There was a time just a few weeks ago when HSTB was only available at 10:03Z, 10:33Z, 11:03Z, 11:33Z, 12:03Z and 12:33Z as gb009761 has stated. Cheers ![]() ![]() |
