I say go for it and see if you can get a year. You are only talking what, 8 days or so, if others drop off of the project, that will extend the deadline. You also have resends and WU's that need to be verified.
If you don't make the goal, so what. |

Talked me into it. Still have 20 days to go to 180, but should be able to avg 8/day from here on. Wish me luck.

I truly appreciate the gesture KLiK! I have run into 2 "problems" however, 1 major and 1 minor. First, I just found out I will be required to travel for week and therefore will essentially have to take my quad core laptop and quad core android device offline as they will be in use on battery for the majority of the trip. Secondly, the old desktop mentioned in the hardware thread has a bad mobo and I will not be able to bring it onboard any time soon if ever.

You can set the clients to not compute when not on charger i.e. still can crunch in hotel room. You can take with you a few days of cache. The deadline is 10 days on FAHV, so reporting any completed work on return is an option. If you have not tried you'll always be sorry [well, that's relative of course]

Altruism... but really me/we are chasing the next boast level on a different project, myself doing 4 at the same time, well 3 really as UGM is on leave ;>).

I agree, Rob. I fear I will regret my decision either way. If I make the switch to OET now, it is just my luck that enough users will drop out, resends, etc that in hindsight I could have made it. Even under the best of circumstances it is unlikely I can reach 1 year. Originally my goal was to make it 45 days before the end and it turns out I will reach 180. The last thing I want is to be stuck at 350 days or so. Those days could be used to improve my OET badge, and that project too will someday end, not to mention that my dropping out (as small as my contribution is compared to many) may help others achieve more reachable goals. As it is I cant afford any slowdown (the trip) if I am to make it.

That's what I'm gonna do. Just set my androids to OET. Plenty of time to reach 180 on my laptops. |
