Re: Best bang-for-the-buck Android device

The new Odroid-N2 looks promising: 6 cores drawing less than 6 watts, can be configured for both Linux and Android.

Indeed.

When SCC restarted it generated 15700 points per day (51 wu).
Then I configured it to crunch only MCM. Daily average: 12600 points for 19 wu.
I've measured electricity consumption and is below 6 watts.
Also, it has passive cooling so no need to worry about a fan.

For the cheap chinese tv sticks around 40-45 euros afair, 2/10 died after two years maybe.
For the phones also 30-45 euros, but they were second hand
Power draw was a bout 3W for each octa, battery being removed :)

Yeah I like the Odroid-N2 a lot. Build myself a small cluster of 5 units for WCG. I put it on 40mm spacers for better cooling and attached it vertical to a wall behind a TV, so you do not see it. It doesnt even reach 45°C now (100% CPU on all cores, 22°C in room). No fan needed, it is completely quiet. It is crunching since 4 weeks now w/o any problems and good performance. 30 cores at 30watt, so that's 1watt/core. I can really recommend that system, if you are looking for silent and efficient crunching.

A few impressions (I am not proud of the wiring, but that is the best I can do biggrin )
