hi,
i set my boinc to run at 90% charge and when plugged into a charger. but the battery never completely charges, hovering between 89% (when boinc will pause) and 90% (when it will restart). it seems that when battery reaches 90%, boinc starts and is draining more power than is going in. same situation when i'm using usb or wall charger. any suggestion how i can resolve this? thanks! |

When sitting at 89% when setting to start computing at 90%, means in effect the charger is not able to keep up, so stopping and starting continuously going above and below 90%. Have bought a heavier one [1.2 amp], and reduced CPU to 2 cores [of 4] i.e. 'used CPU cores' to maintain 100% charge. The preference is only visible when selecting 'Show advanced preferences and controls' under preferences.

I have a 4 core chip in my LG Volt and have the charge level set to 70% and it always stays fully charged.
----------------------------------------But I don't use a charger, I use an A/C to USB adapter and plug the usb cable into that. So I'm going to guess Sekerob is right about the output of the charger. However in my case, I did have to up the max temp from 39 or 40C (whatever the default is) to 42C to insure that the phone runs most of the time. Before getting a higher wattage charger though, you should consider if that is going to be safe. If you can't get an OEM charger with a higher output, that might mean that it's not safe to give the phone more wattage. If you have a straight charging cable, i.e., one with no electronics just a male USB-A connector on one end and a mini-usb connector on the other (or whatever your phone uses) you can try using that with an A/C to usb wall adapter and see how that goes. But I would keep an eye on it for a few days to make sure that it doesn't overload your phone. As you know, Li-ion batteries tend to respond violently to being overloaded. ![]() ![]() |

Upping the allowed battery temp from 39 to 42C certainly helps working towards 'violant responses' ;>), my setting is actually lowered to 35C just to be extra safe and sits on an open stand front of a USB fan. [The charger is actually an A/C type with two 1.2Amp USB ports max output... nothing is being pushed... it's what the tablet draws FAIUTW]
