I've just noticed that on the Research Page, the WCG Tech's have started displaying their Estimated Completion Date (Oct. 2016).

From April 21 news item:
As compared to the earlier work of Mapping Cancer Markers, where we studied lung cancer, this phase will have a larger and more complex dataset. We estimate that the number of "experiments" we can perform within a single work unit will be much less, as each experiment will take longer to solve. Although the dataset is larger, that means that we are able to use our algorithm against many more points of data, which will hopefully return a very clear result . |

Wondering what impact this will have on the progress - longer WUs or more of them perhaps ?

The following figures are based on a total number of work units of 530,000,000 from cubes (project scientist) with the addition of Seippel (WCG tech).
----------------------------------------Hello all, We've received an update on the estimate batch count from the researchers that has added another 9000 batches making the new estimate 26,500 batches. However, this is only an estimate (a lot can change in the almost one year it will take to complete these new batches). Also, the progress bar on the webpage has been updated accordingly. Thanks, Seippel Last 30 day average results:460,817 Estimated end date using 30 day average: October 12, 2016 Percent Complete:84.99194% The average length of a WU is currently running about 4.19 hours, slightly longer than last week, but still gradually decreasing throughout the week. Still have not seen any of the batches from 122278 to 122402. The ovarian units started with 122403 as the lowest number. My latest batch number was 122595 which would give about 171 batches for the week. Therefore, by this measure the project is about 84.8% complete. (Take this number with a large grain of salt.) We are still at about 5.75 more months (approx. 173 days)of additional crunching at the current recent run rate. The projected completion date has progressed 10 days since last week. Production decreased slightly this past week going from about 3.78 million WU's to 3.72 million WU's completed. During this past week the time devoted to MCM1 was just under an average of 260 years per day, compared to 273 years per day the previous week. I speculate this may have been due to FAH2 getting back on track. Getting back to about 3.5 million work units or more per week will move that completion date closer. Remember, the situation can change at any time and these are only estimates. Cheers
Sgt. Joe
