Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Strange thing! I have a page and a half of results showing as valid, but with no elapsed time/CPU time and no points claimed/granted. I guess this may be connected to the current upload issues but may not be?

Has anyone else seen this, mine are all MCM1 tasks/wu's

Yes, I got some yesterday, too. But some of mine got at least one point. Not too bad for less than one miute runtime... ;-)

This one is a new error for me. Isolated incident I hope. Here is the part of the stderr.txt:

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Sgt.Joe,

That error is related to the checkpointing code. The most likely cause is a corrupted checkpoint file. If the error only occurred once, I wouldn't worry about it - it can happen if the science application is killed while in the middle of writting the checkpoint file.

Seippel - could you comment on the above please?

I've got 30+ pages (on the results page, that's 30x15 results) that show zero time & points...

Your comments would be appreciated

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Mamajuana,

I believe these were work units that exited early due to how the code works. we will be testing these shortly to see if this was the case. It appears to be around batch 3716 that this happened.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

It appears none of the wu's has any elapsed time listed even though the cpu time is listed. Strange.

Cheers

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

@ Sgt.Joe

I think this is how it's meant to be. Elapsed time doesn't show on the popout despite the column header.

SekeRob post from Apr 2013 when the feature was introduced which has CPU/Elapsed on the Result Status but not the individual WU pop out.

Then it was raised in Nov 2013 in this thread following a website update.

You are right. The work unit is a one-off because in the result status it shows a zero time for elapsed time.

Mamajuana,

These work units were problem work units. The problem was due to how they were copied to the download server. It was an issue on our end when the filesystem got full. Since we have a mechanism to prevent that from happening, this problem should not be an issue in the future.

Thanks for point it out!

Thanks,

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

I have been poking around downloading completed workunits (the status results) into a spreadsheet via XML. I happened to notice some of the units have an elapsed time which is shorter than the cpu time. This gives me a machine efficiency of over 100%, which I know is not possible. I think they were among the units referenced by Uplinger as the "problem" units. They are mostly in batch 3717 but there are a few others scattered in a few other batches. They are all valid. The last one was returned on 4-13-2014, so it appears the issue is been resolved. Just thought I would mention it.
Cheers
