Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Hello terianne929 ,

it is by nature of science, which is hardly predictable.
The run times are really hard to predict precisely.
Each WU has estimated flops needed, which are divided by your estimated performance according to the benchmark and adjusted with DFC - duration correction factor.

The think is that MCM is uses machine learning algorithms so it also may depend on how fast learning your machine is :-D

It causes me issue too, but what can we do?
I think that Cancer is the most serious illness that we are facing so we have to fight with it as we can.

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

The BOINC Manager "Progress" percentage completed column seems to give a reasonably accurate indication of how long a task will run, at least after the WU has been running a little while.

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Aaargh... invalid MCM results again because of machine restarts! crying I had hoped that this was fixed, but just seen a couple of these pop up in my result status. Hopefully these aren't as frequent as last time or I'll need to opt out of MCM on some profiles until its fixed.

I am also seeing a few of these, but they are not nearly as frequent as they were in the past. Some days there are none, other days 1 or 2 per machine. Seems random.
Cheers

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Hi, I just installed the BOINC software (version 7.2.39) but I can't find this project (Mapping Cancer Markers) under the Add project. How can I contribute to this project?

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Got a couple invalids as well. This time around, I didn't panic and checked the forum first before stability testing my computer.

Hello spiderling,

Welcome to the forums. You may select which research projects to run at World Community Grid on your "My Projects " page.

Remember to save any changes. Thanks.
