Re: Bling

9 years to go to my Diamond 50 for MCM. I just wish the electricity prices were a bit lower at the moment, because at the current rate those 9 years are going to take over 18 months elapsed. It's rarely running overnight at the moment. With 24 threads, one hour = one day, so 3 or 4 hours overnight makes a big difference. Maybe I should set the trigger threshold to 10p/kWh, rather than 5p/kWh. My cruncher uses 200W at the plug, which at 5p/kWh equals 1p/hour. The question is, can I afford 2p/hour of processing? smile

Re: Bling

If I can, I think you can handle it. Have one less pint on the weekend, should more than cover it. :)

Re: Bling

You've just persuaded me Steve!

Also, I've just bought a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. I've stuck a copy of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server on it (and WCG of course), connected it to the WiFi and stuck it in a slightly damp cupboard! It's using 5.1 Watts to process 4 units in parallel, each Open Pandemics unit taking about 9.5 hours. I reckon that's about 12.1Wh per unit. Shame there's no MCM option.

Edit: I've just run a few OPN units through my Ryzen 9 3900X, and I think that's about 14.2Wh per unit. Not very scientific (comparing apples with oranges perhaps), but that shows how efficient the ARM architecture is, and that's with a 28nm Broadcom SoC, compared to 7nm AMD.

Same here. Unfortunately I have had to drop output really low as work in an enclosed loft space so need to air condition the space when it gets too warm which is very expensive paying for both at the same time. Also decided it was bad for the environment so only use WCG at a reduced output whilst using the workstation. On a positive note, it is cold today so have increased the number of work units I am running to warm the loft!
