Re: Good morning everyone

Good morning, team-mates. I've just noticed my team signature has gone blue. Congrats to me!

That's because you've contributed 50 million points to team UK. Excellent!!! Only another 50 million to go and you get the coveted diamond border. There is an "ice blue" one above that, which is reserved for people whose name starts with "mama" and ends in "uk" smile

Had a problem with the memory sticks which I fixed today, memory was running at 2100, now running at 3200. Not sure how much this will affect crunching, won't hurt it though.

Been reading that lots of people are having difficulties with the Aorus MB, mine has been solid as a rock. The BIOS design sucks hard though, difficult to navigate and seems a bit of a kludge, some options are not where you would logically expect them to be.

Re: Good morning everyone

Good Morning All
Congratulations Apis Tintinnambulator on achieving your (WCG) Blue keep up the good work.

I think that I have solved my app_config.xml problem. All those who spoke of exterraneous matter in the .xml file were quite correct. I found an option in the 'Text Edit.app' which will format the file as plain text (with and extension .txt). Did that and renamed the text file to .xml. After shutting down WCG I then installed it in the Library/application support/BOINC DATA folder under projects/wcg.... overwriting the old file. Unfortunately the permissions of the file were not set for Boinc manager access so it was necessary to reinstall Boinc on my 3 Macs - all now seems OK - PHEW......

Re: Good morning everyone

Good to hear that Rod. I tried that on my PC and the crunch time has come way down so points per hour has improved. Soon I will try it on my servers (running Linux). Thanks again..

Tom what projects are you running? At this moment in time I am crunching only SCC but there are many WUs of MIP on their way up my list. I am hoping that the workaround (with the app_config.xml file) will limit MIP to two threads only on my 3 Macs. Apparently this prevents MIP from slowing everything else down. I am now around 260 CPU days (22 days real time) from my 10 year SCC and I'm not sure where I will go after that. It looks like 100% MIP is not an option until they clear up some of the issues. Any recommendations for a good points haul? I did initiate FAH but it appears that there is no work despite the project saying that it is only 50% or so (I cant remember exactly) complete.

Re: Good morning everyone

Rod at the moment I am concentrating on SCC until I hit diamond 50. I am on 46 years at the moment, so a couple of weeks should see that total. After that, I will see...

Re: Good morning everyone

Watch out for MIP!
I posted the following on the MIP forum

OK so I have just this minute processed my first MIP since starting again. I loaded the recommended app_config.xml file and WUs seem to process in pairs. So far so good. Although BOINC is predicting a 6h 50m WU crunch time the WU actually completed in a little under 1h 30m.

I hope this is an anomaly but the Valid result was 1.38h CPU time with 1.42h Elapsed. Gain? 14.4 points for a 24Gflop file. This is a joke! I'll check thing out tomorrow morning but if this is typical I am binning my MIP WUs and waiting until sanity returns.
Breaking News The second MIP file processed only gave me 14.2 points for a similar crunch time.
