Initial returns from the threadripper look good indeed
----------------------------------------A million points in four days is impressive, and there is more to come from this machine, still a number of improvements I can make and I'm not talking overclocking, Just need some round tuits. Will have to revise the estimate of overtaking you DC. Still have a few problems, mainly to do with Linux nothing wrong with the hardware. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Darkmatter.NI at Oct 31, 2017 10:13:34 AM] |

Thanks Tom, it is great, so smooth and responsive, starting applications is nearly instantaneous. It really feels like there is power to spare.
----------------------------------------Looking forward to my next video project. ![]() |

Good morning all.
----------------------------------------Thank you for your congratulations - I didn't even know that I had done it. HELP As some of you may know (or even personally experienced) there is a flaw with MIP which males the points haul exteremely low if you run more than 2 threads at a time (apparently it slows down other projects running concurrently). I have been given a script by a researcher to limit MIP to 2 concurrent WUs which I am assured will solve the problem. The script is as follows: For example to limit MIP1 to two concurrent tasks you would need to create the file app_config.xml in the World Community Grid project directory. The WCG project directory is in the BOINC data directory under projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org. This is an example of the contents: <app_config> <app> <name>mip1</name> <max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent> </app> </app_config> So far so good - I have put the script in the correct location with the correct file name. All I get now is the message (In my BOINC Notices Tab) Missing <app_config> in app_config.xml Has anyone any idea what is going wrong?

Rod, did only put the code in the file? Steve, I created the file using text edit with the contents as shown. I now have the app_config.xml file is the recommended directory. Clearly BOINC is reading it but finding fault somewhere. That's the mystery - where is my syntax incorrect?

I assume all the text in bold is in the file, you need to remove everything before the <app_config> line.
----------------------------------------That should fix it. ![]() |
