Welcome to the start of the week team. Are you back from your holidays Dave or are you still in wet and windswept Wales? Not much to report here apart from the grass growing and being too wet to cut. Bolivia is having a great soul searching following the air crash of a national airline in Colombia recently which killed about 70. The latest reports say that it ran out of fuel when Columbian ATC stacked it. It appears that the airline was accustomed to under fuelling their aircraft with 8 instances being reported in the last month. Rather worrying when the only reliable form of transport between cities is by air.

Commercial Airliners in the US and UK and most of Europe are supposed to have 20% more fuel than they need for a journey, just in case like.

Yes, I am back from wet and windy wales Rod (just a long weekend). The weather was grim on Friday/Saturday. Sunday morning was stunning though (I posted some photos on Facebook).
----------------------------------------I just noticed that the team crashed through the 8 million results barrier in the last few days. My own output has dropped slightly due to having to lend 4 cores to a friend whose Mac is doing a passable impression of a sloth on tranquillisers.

Good morning all (it's still yesterday here). Dave I think your friend has the same Mac as me. However I have seen Sloths move with a passable burst of speed, particularly when down at ground level and heading for a tree. Not sure if they take tranquillisers though. I suspect it is due to a combination of old hardware (2010) and OS X Sierra although my other Macs seem OK. Let me know if you solve his problem, it might help me.

This problem Rod is caused by a failed OS update some time ago, I'm guessing. It's an ancient-ish Core 2 Duo iMac (~2008 I think). It takes about 10 minutes just to fire up Mail, and I'm trying to copy off about 20GB of local email onto my IMAP server (I don't trust the backup) before I try to repair it. It's taken a couple of weeks so far. Slow doesn't begin to describe it. Totally unusable is a better description.

Good morning all. Warm gale force winds are the order of the day today. I'm still nursing my sick iMac. It just seems to have lost all of its performance and I'm trawling through the activity monitor to find out why. I'm pretty sure it is not a virus but the performance is certainly much more inferior to my MacBook Pro with the same quad core processor.

Good morning all. I have been a bit quiet recently. I seem to have been rushing around a lot. Partly because I have a new partner, partly because of Christmas, partly because I appear to be excessively disorganised. Sadly my crunching output is down too - 4 cores have been lent to my new partner (she has a poorly Mac), my main server has been busy (so dropped from 3 cores to 1) and some of my Azure credit has been used for actual work stuff for a change. Still plugging away though.
----------------------------------------Are you all ready for Christmas then? I remember things like Christmas Nativity Darkmatter (my kids went to a C of E school, so no escaping it).
