Re: Good morning everyone

Hi all,

Not been on the forums much, recently, as work has been a little on the insanely manic side on the run-up to the Christmas change-freeze.

However, by saving my holidays up a little, I can safely say I'm going to avoid the rest of the rush by finishing at 4pm today - I may have been annoying my colleagues by mentioning it occasionally! biggrin

One slight issue is I've got a new work-laptop (new-ish 15" MacBook to replace an old Linux Mint Dell Latitude laptop), and the BOINC Manager doesn't work too well for remote-controlling anything with. May have to play around with the Manager software on my gaming PC, to see if I can get that the remote-control devices, as I know I had issues with getting it working in the past.

Hope everyone's well! smile

Regards,
Thargor

PS: I finish work for Christmas at 4pm today! wink

Re: Good morning everyone

Thanks Mamajuanauk, nearly 2.5 years crunching, not too bad considering I've only 2 quads doing most of the work.

Re: Good morning everyone

Congratulations DMNI. The first 20 are the hardest! Pretty impressive for 2 quads. You must be overclocking them to hell. If my calcs are right I have 4 more cores than you but can only manage ~ 2000 points / hour elapsed - tell me your secret!

Re: Good morning everyone

Good morning all - Rain today (or with a temperature of near 30C it's more like steam!) hooray. I'm desperately trying to eek out more performance from my iMac - it should be up there with my other i7 processors but for some reason the benchmark is woefully low. I'm searching for processor and memory hogs (Firefox is one) so that I can release more CPU power. Wish me luck.

Thanks Rod, I thought it would take longer to hit 20 years myself.
The only over-clocked computer is my main box and only by 400mhz, Don't want to stress it out to much. Don't really have a secret, my box is on about 16 hrs a day, the other quad is on 24hrs, I have other computers but they are very intermittent. It all adds up though.

Re: Good morning everyone

Good morning all.The weather is getting rather wet here (good for the garden). I still haven't managed to tweak my iMac yet. It's performance just seems to have gone off the cliff edge whereas my dual core Mac Book is showing sustained record levels of crunching. I'm still recording 18 days + CPU time (or is that run duration time, I'm not sure) so all should be OK but those heady days when I was recording 110 Gflops have long gone.
