Re: 25 days of work remaining for Help Conquer Cancer

Are people increasing their caches? My pages of PVs have double in the last day or so!

Sorry BladeD - I have, as I'm literally ~27 days short of my Sapphire badge, and I don't want to miss it... As soon as I know I've gotten enough WU's to safely get me over the 2 year line, then I'll be switching my science profile cool

I don't think you are the problem. Aren't you DL'ing CPU WUs?

Yes, soley CPU WU's - no GPU here...

Thing is, if I'm doing it, then no doubt, others (with GPU's) will also be doing it - although, keeping quiet about performing such actions...

Re: 25 days of work remaining for Help Conquer Cancer

I am not to blame for the lack of packages. I am running 3 other projects with HCC and usually am set for less than a days worth of WUs. Think it is at .55 right now.

Don't think I can do better than the badge I have now. But I just passed 4 years of computing time on HCC today.

Pretty happy about that.

Been a good run. Great predictable WUs.

Glad to have been part of this for personal reasons.

Been great working with all you fine folks too.

Re: 25 days of work remaining for Help Conquer Cancer

I have no clue on how the days remaining are calculated. According to this chart: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q210/Sekerob/WCGYearsPi1Project.png
as of April 16, we are doing .33% per day and have completed 89.12%.

It shows 10 days remaining. Shouldn't it be ~33 days remaining?

The chart has been updated and now shows for HCC1:
99.45% complete
1.75% daily advance
9 days remaining

Still doesn't make sense :)

IMHO, it does not matter who contributes to HCC (CPU or GPU) as long as the research is completed. We still have to finish SN2S, DSFL, GFAM, CEP2, HPF2, FAAH, HFCC, Simap, POEM, etc. There's also FAH and GPUGrid. At present, I'm working on HCC, DSFL, FAH, GPUGrid. There's no shortage of work!!

Good working with you all - happy crunching together.

Re: 25 days of work remaining for Help Conquer Cancer

I just received the following messages from a work fetch, which leads me to believe we may have exhausted the sending of "new work", and are currently processing "resend work on a per-platform basis"

HCC GPU WUs are still pouring in. The techs are usually very accurate with these kind of predictions. We should be okay until near the end of next week.

Right. I expect new work to be available through approximately the time the techs stated. We haven't seen a large spike in HCC results returned since the 25 day announcement which would have drawn in the end date.

I do imagine that as we get closer the "work unavailable" messages will get more frequent while the tank empties. But just let the client keep trying to get work. We'll soon finish this off for good!

And cheers to all for the cycles people have donated. It's been a pleasure crunching with you, and I look forward to more crunching. And hopefully some breakthroughs along the way!

Re: 25 days of work remaining for Help Conquer Cancer

The chart is not showing the correct percentage complete. Assuming no more work is added there is 11 days remaining so I am predicting that all the new work will be send out by 28/4/13

The chart has been updated and now shows for HCC1:
99.45% complete
1.75% daily advance
9 days remaining

Still doesn't make sense :)

I guess it will be over when it's over. wink

Re: 25 days of work remaining for Help Conquer Cancer

I've still got a virtual post it note on my desktop dated Apr 12, 2011 that has the estimate at that time as being 8 months (+ maybe more work) for HCC so I don't think we have done too badly wink
