Is there any app_info to run WCG gpu wu's as well as CPu ones as I am crunching for other WCG projects too which have only CPU apps. Yes but each project you want to run has to be added to your app_info. It can get a little complicated if you have no clue what you are doing (like me! ) Here's mine for running HCC on GPU and SN2S on the CPU. A word of warning first though: it works great untuil BOINC downloads a workunit that is not SN2S or HCC GPU. I have my preferences set to crunch SN2S only and I selected "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project." This allows HCC GPU WU's to be sent. But every once in a while a different WU is downloaded and BOINC throws a fit. It's fine if you are around to abort the WU but if you arn't, BOINC won't download any more work. ***********for nvidia only*************
Thanks for the quick response . I am successful in running HCC Ati Gpu and SN2S using part of above app_info. However looking to run Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 also but as I am not familiar with programming. Can anyone help to add Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 support for app_info. |

Has anyone else not gotten any HCC work units yet? I have a GeForce GT 440 OEM GPU on a Linux Machine, which I have had crunching a number of different projects, but I have yet to see it get a batch of WCG GPU units.
It may be a boinc manager thing as currently the projects i am crunching on my machines are WCG and GPUGrid, and perhaps the manager feels enough other WCG projects are being crunched so its telling my GPU to only get GPUgrid. |

AdamYusko,
Have you checked your WCG account settings to see if GPU workunits are allowed? If not, that's likely to be the problem you have. |

AdamYusko, The GPU units are only out for Windows users right now, and there is no indication as to when they may be available for Linux. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 21, 2012 12:22:33 PM] |

Alright, thank you, everyone who responded. For some reason I didn't see that on the FAQ page which is why I asked.
Maybe that should be added on the FAQ page for the GPU crunching? I'll just be patient and keep crunching GPU Grid until it becomes available for Linux. |

Not sure if this is the right place to post this... if not, just let me know and I'll have it moved. I found out yesterday that one of my machines (one that I don't always have access to) "apparently" can crunch the GPU WUs for HCC. I say "apparently" because the GPU is recognized and WUs are downloaded, but when the WUs are validated they are marked as Invalid. The computer is an HP laptop and the card is showing as ATI Mobility HD Radeon 5400 series. Besides the Results log, What other info do I need to post ? Any ideas?

Okay guys, I am running the app info file. In the message tab I am getting these 2 messages. I am just wondering if it is normal since it dump the other task I was running.
----------------------------------------10/21/2012 10:19:43 PM World Community Grid [error] App version returned from anonymous platform project; ignoring 10/21/2012 10:19:43 PM World Community Grid [error] No application found for task: windows_intelx86 640 ; discarding Also is there a specific way to load the app_info file? After I load it I no longer download work. I run out of gpu units. I have to dump the app_info file then it starts getting work again. The way I have been doing it is shutting down Boinc. Then I add the App_info file, then restart the program. After I restart the program it does what the app info is set to do. It just won't download work. It just continues with what it already had and won't download more. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 22, 2012 3:30:26 AM] |

I am just wondering if it is normal since it dump the other task I was running. 10/21/2012 10:19:43 PM World Community Grid [error] App version returned from anonymous platform project; ignoring 10/21/2012 10:19:43 PM World Community Grid [error] No application found for task: windows_intelx86 640 ; discarding Also is there a specific way to load the app_info file? After I load it I no longer download work. I run out of gpu units. I have to dump the app_info file then it starts getting work again. The way I have been doing it is shutting down Boinc. Then I add the App_info file, then restart the program. After I restart the program it does what the app info is set to do. It just won't download work. It just continues with what it already had and won't download more. The procedure to install an app_info.xml is to first hit the 'No new tasks' under 'Project' in the Boinc manager then you wait until all your workunits have finished and have been returned and after that you shut down BOINC and then you copy your app_info.xml file in to the BOINC\Data\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org map and restart BOINC. Then you hit 'Allow new tasks' in the BOINC manager and click 'Update' under 'Projects' in the BOINC manager, that's it. Regarding errors I only get the '[error] App version returned from anonymous platform project; ignoring' but that has no effect on the project, it works just fine. Your '[error] No application found for task: windows_intelx86 640 ; discarding' indicates that you have not spell the name of the application in the app_info.xml correct or the application is missing in the BOINC\Data\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org map, if that's the case you can hit 'Reset project' under 'Projects' in the BOINC manager.
