And in case it was missed: Multi-task processing on capable GPU cards will be allowed, but you'll have to figure out the set-up yourself or with help of other GPU crunchers. It will *not* officially be supported. What about support for multiple GPU-cards in a machine? Would a dual-GPU card in a machine get 2-GPU-HCC-v6.56 WUs?; The BOINC client supports that natively. No intervention is required on our side. |

What's your supposition based on? Can't kick your habit of responding to a question with another question?; |

No intervention is required on our side.; If you're going to run HCC GPU tasks I HIGHLY recommend you update your BOINC client to a version 7 if you haven't already. Most of the errors I saw on the last 3 beta runs came from people running a version 6.

Most of the errors I saw on the last 3 beta runs came from people running a version 6. Yup, I can confirm that -- of myWingWUs for the recent rounds of beta-HCC-GPU-WUs that didn't get a valid valuation -- many are from clients not using BOINC_v7.0.25 or higher, and of those, the bulk come from those using BOINC_v6 clients -- leaving the majority of valids as having come from clients using BOINC_v7.0.25 or higher. There is a co-relation that those who are more active in GPU-crunching tend to gravitate to using BOINC_v7 because many of the improvements in managing GPU-computing come from there. Anyways, I'm currently using BOINC v7.0.28** for Windows and contemplating on retiring my old machine*.HCC-GPU-v6.56 is already live ! Notes: *But the force is more on the pull of getting me an energy-efficient and compute-efficient machine as opposed to the push of the old machine. **Same thinking on the software side: not that BOINC_v6 is old, and clunky in handling GPU-computing over-all, although it is, but more on my desire to use effectiveness and efficiencies from the latest stable BOINC_versions in managing GPU-computing and CPU-computing grid tasks. ; |

Due to the many GPU-related scheduling bugs, I have been using 7.0.36 since it was released on my Win7 64-bit system, and it has been working fine. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=6698&nowrap=true#45639 |

Is it possible to have an option for checkpoints in future versions of the app, so that low-end cards could contribute to this project?

Is it possible to have an option for checkpoints in future versions of the app, so that low-end cards could contribute to this project? I second this. While I complete GPU WU in 2 minutes or less, it would be nice when I start using the computer, and the GPU is already half way done, not to have it have to restart again. |
