A question: when the project will start, will be possible to run multiple wu on gpu?? Now, with custom config.xml file, i'm crunching 5 wu gpu poem@home concurrently (reserving 3 cpu cores)... We will not be officially enabling that. We have not investigated what you might be able to do unofficially. We have approved this beta to be released to production so we will be launching soon and then you will be able to experiment. Cool! I only hope that 'soon' actually is going to be 'soon' Best news, indeed: thank you. I will start acceptance testing a new AMD A8 based machine this week to augment my two current rigs. I plan, depending on its performance and power consumption, to leave it running 24/7. It' a barebones machine housed in the most hideous light purple case: it's cheap and I likely will keep it. crunching, crunching, crunching. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core Processor with Windows 11 64 Pro. At least I have POEM as a backup because I am expecting for the first few days, Work Units will be limited due to everyone wanting one! |

At least I have POEM as a backup because I am expecting for the first few days, Work Units will be limited due to everyone wanting one! I was reluctant to get involved in this project at all, since I normally use Nvidia cards for Folding and saw no point in trying to take work units away from the many people with AMD cards that do better with OpenCL. But a couple of HD 7770s were a good use for the PCIe slots on my main PC where I don't have a lot of cooling (or power supply) available, and they don't strain my CPU. There will eventually be more WCG OpenCL projects, and POEM is a nice one to use in the interim, so it was too good a learning experience to pass up. (The points go through the roof too, if anyone is interested in that aspect.) |

We have approved this beta to be released to production so we will be launching soon.. Good news, knreed .Some queries: 1] Code status: a) Is the HCC-GPU-v6.56 code now 'frozen'? Status upgraded to release-candidate? b) No more follow-up / follow-through tests? Are we simply awaiting launch then? 2] Draft documentation: Could we see some notes like usage-notes, known-issues/limitations, system-requirements, and the likes? Thanks. ; |

Thanks. ; English is not my native tongue, but knreed is clear to me. In line with past practice, you'll now see v 6.56 appearing in production [no grpahics screen ;P]. From internal comms, the project will launch when everything is ready, to include the relevant Help which includes the update for the System Requirements pages. And in case it was missed: Multi-task processing on capable GPU cards will be allowed, but you'll have to figure out the set-up yourself or with help of other GPU crunchers. It will *not* officially be supported. |
