Re: Beta Test for Help Conquer Cancer - GPU v6.56

I got five, all completed and validated on an E8400 (Core2 Duo at 3.0 GHz) with two Radeon HD 7770s (12.8 driver). The average elapsed time was 2.86 minutes.

The good news for me is that I was away from home, but my PC properly picked up the WCG work units even though it was crunching POEM on both cards at the time (BOINC 7.0.36 x64 with Win7 64-bit). The trick was to set the resource share to "1" for POEM, but leave it at "100" for WCG, since I prefer to crunch HCC when available, but get POEM when it is not. This was the first time I could test it out.

Thanks for that advice, I crunch GPU on Milkyway@home because WCG does not yet have a GPU client, and I wanted to participate in the Beta's, but they wouldn't overrun Milkyway@home. Now I can run Milkyway@home and then when a Beta comes out, immediately do that!

Thanks!

Re: Beta Test for Help Conquer Cancer - GPU v6.56

If the solution to the excessive downloading of CPU work units while running GPU work units is to upgrade to a 7.0.xx client, does that mean that GPU work units in production is dependent on the upgrade of the client from 6.10.58?

It doesn't appear to be dependent but you'll have far fewer problems because the 7 versions are better optimized to run GPU tasks. A vast majority of the resends I've received during the last 3 beta runs were from errors returned by crunchers running a version 6 of BOINC.

Re: Beta Test for Help Conquer Cancer - GPU v6.56

Got 44 on my GTX 570. Everything went well but the system was a bit laggy which doesn't happen with GPU grid or other GPU based projects.

Apart from that, each WU stopped at 99,45% for 1min and then completed

Time for each task was around 3.17min

Re: Beta Test for Help Conquer Cancer - GPU v6.56

Received 54 between 2 GPU's, ATI 5670 and a 6950. 53 vaild, 1 pending validation. No extra wu's added. I think this project is ready to go mainstream.

Guess I got about 5 days extra and didn't realize it. 1st time this has happened.

I think there will have to be a beta run of more than a few hours before that.
