Hi mikey159b Understood The point is though that on GPUGrid I don't have any issues with crunching on the GPU On WCG with the same settings it's stuttering and making my PC unusable - for instance while watching TV in Media Centre - this would be considered PC idle by the BOINC app. The process itself needs to throttle it's GPU usage (much like the laptop saving default 60% CPU setting) either that or a change in the priority settings for the task - all other projects run at the same level as the system idle task and are kicked into touch by anything else running on your PC ...immediately At the moment GPUGrid has 85% of my GPU and that remaining 15% is more than sufficient to handle any graphics challenges I might throw it's way - and everyone is happy. On WCG it is taking up to 100% of the GPU and causing the stalling/stuttring effect. One of the best things about the Grid has always been that it is invisible to the end user - you don't know it's there but the science just gets done. It's better to have 85% of something rather than 100% of nothing. It needs sorting before going full time otherwise there will be quite a backlash and an ongoing forum support headache Just my Beta Trial feedback Dave Have you tried using MSIAfterburner to modify the gpu settings? I know this is still the Beta and things WILL change. maybe even ALOT, between now and the release time. |
