I'll do another test (if the beta's come again), with all threads busy, but the beta task priority set to normal. I got a GPU resend and ran it with normal priority: BETA_ X0900060940370200511301507_ 2-- 1763450 Valid 21/03/12 23:31:28 21/03/12 23:38:06 0.08 130.2 / 162.1 Elapsed: 5:18 - CPU time: 4:44 In Result Log: CPU time used = 284.920226 The comparison is not quite fair, because I have a multi-thread task running using 1.5 core. Thus I had a half core free plus running on normal priority. Edit: Another resend, but now with 8 cores 100% busy: BETA_ X0900060941056200511301456_ 2-- 1763450 Valid 22/03/12 10:42:03 22/03/12 10:49:55 0.02 130.1 / 162.1 Elapsed: 6:29 - CPU time: 1:16 and with process priority set to 'normal'. So I do not need to free a core to reduce the elapsed time with 3 to 4 minutes by raising the process priority to 'normal' and with 'very low' cpu usage. A couple of quick notes:
We will have to change the results status page to show the version number and 'app plan' for the result. This will let you know if it was run as cpu or gpu. We will also have to change the page so that it shows elapsed time for results run on the gpu instead of cpu time (for the purposes of recording 'run time' as recorded on the website, gpu results are awarded time based on the run time). |

Thank You very much. This will simplify things a lot for those of us new at the GPU stuff. |

Thanks Kevin. Can you give us any hint as to when the next GPU beta will be ready to run?

Round 4 seems to be already finished up...No more coming... It seems a good idea that there always be announcements (in the forum) for any and all (planned or unplanned) releases of beta_GPU-WUs. I'm not aware that there was one such for 'round 4'.- snip from tomast [Mar 20, 2012 1:10:58 AM] post ; So is the next one "Round 5" ?? This thread is labeled as "Re: Round 3 - GPU Beta Test for Help Conquer Cancer" so was the "Round 4" a quick one ? Eagerly waiting to crunch something with my GPU |

If at all a 3.1 round to also expose the NVidia cards to the same iteration as went to the ATI cards [see post knreed on that].

Hello X-Files 27,
All that I know is that knreed was getting a 6-day rest as of late last week. I don't know when the next Beta units will start coming. Lawrence |

Suggest folks itching to use there GPU go find another project until WCG starts back up. I jumped on milkyway to keep my card crunching. Will also help you tune it to your likings.
