For those seeing high CPU time can you verify that you are not running a cpu workunit. This can be verified by looking at the tasks tab on the advanced view of the BOINC client. If the task is GPU it will have either ATI or NVIDIA in parenthesis after the task name. The GPU version will use cpu at the start for a bit to do some initial things but it should start to use GPU only once the % complete begins to increment. Thanks, armstrdj Yes its gpu with high cpu usage. @Nano: Did you abort any GPU wu's at projects other than WCG today? Occasionally I've seen BOINC get confused and think it has time allocated to another GPU project. If so, I would shut down the machine and restart it. That worked for me once but, as always, other people's results may vary.

PS. Glad to see your wife is doing better. Thanks DM. Very much appreciated. EDIT: Rebooted machine. didn't help.

hum. I have just installed a EVGA GTX 580 on a Intel I7/870 based computer. I installed the latest drivers from EVGA (March 13, 2012). I have the beta testing clicked on in both places on the correct device profile. The machine is running XP 32 bit. I cannot seem to get a GPU beta.
----------------------------------------I have BOINC 6.12.34 Run Always Use GPU always Network activity always available Anyone have any idea what I else I need to check... or am I just being too impatient? |

I think this first phase has all been issued. FWIW I didn't get Nvidia tasks either.

Just to remind everyone - we are sending both CPU and GPU application versions as part of this test. We need to see how the credit logic behaves. We have gotten through a long ways into the test and it appears that there is a short window where the credit logic behaves pretty poorly. In particular, during the time that GPU results were returning and being validated but before the CPU results were being returned and validated, the credit claimed per result jumped to 100-200 credit per result. Once there were enough CPU results back it dropped back down to 30 +/-. I can confirm I got 217 credits for 0.03 minutes(EDIT: that is supposed to be HOURS) of work! It was wonderful but way out of line for what it should be I would think. [Edit 2 times, last edit by mikey159b at Mar 14, 2012 2:06:25 PM] |

So, are we out of work for now? I can't get any work, but I can't tell if that is because of a config problem, or if the queue is dry. Is there a server status page that shows the various queues?

Yes, we are out of work for now.
----------------------------------------@Mikey: If you got that from My Grid it is 0.03 hours but 217 credits for a couple of minutes is cool. |

So much for the Compute Capability 1.1 we were told we would need.

I haven't seen this message before... 3/13/2012 3:51:02 PM World Community Grid Message from server: This computer has finished a daily quota of 2 tasks Even better: "Message from server: This computer has finished a daily quota of 1 tasks" This from an old machine that previously got a beta, which crashed out immediately: "<message> process got signal 4 </message>" Possibly also important is that even though it crashed immediately (within 1 second), it claimed 32.0 credits. |
