We are going to be running another beta test. This time version 6.13 and using new parameters given to us from the researchers.
The change to the application is to fix the issue on linux members were noticing about lost CPU time. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks Uplinger and Seippel,
I got 12 on my machines, already running on two of those, no issues to return all of them on time. |

Am I correct in assuming it's 1 beta per core?

I have received a few on 3 machines, including a laptop running at 50% CPU usage. The beta it received is respecting the CPU usage cap (unlike the last batch), and therefore the temperature is is holding steady. In "top" in Linux, I see two mentions for each running beta (one called beta_vina and one called beta_6.13). The total CPU usage for both is about the requested share.
----------------------------------------I have successfully suspended and resumed one. The beta_vina copy continued to show 1% CPU usage in top, but that may have just been because LAIM is on. All the WUs seem to be incrementing their elapsed and CPU times in BOINC manager. So far it looks as if the problems are solved! Hope that holds up. :) |

Am I correct in assuming it's 1 beta per core? Apparently so, as with previous betas. On Windows 7 all looks fine. Although 1 running process/core, each beta appears to have 2 PIDs. Apparently one is a control program which spawns a "vina" task which does the real work. Each vina seems to finish fairly quickly, then is another is spawned. Or maybe that's all wrong, I'm really a Linux person. But I can see how resource accounting can get gnarly. [edited because I got it all wrong.] [Edit 1 times, last edit by Harriscott at Aug 5, 2011 6:44:35 PM] |

Uplinger,
To add some "chatter", nothing received here. Is this as 2 step release like the last test? --//-- |
