I had 2 CEP2 WUs trapped today with these issues on upload. I see that one of them finally got its upload complete, but the other one still in retry mode. It looks like at least some of the work is completing and I'll just have to be patient on the rest over the next upcoming hours while the tech team works on the issue.

Hi,
We are working to clear the backlog now, so hopefully you will see your other unit send soon. If you remain stuck for a long time, then send us the name of the WU and we will try to unfreeze it. Thank you for your patience! Your Harvard CEP Team |

I aborted one upload because it kept repeated this:

Dear EveB,
we've cleaned up the stuck upload E219195_260_I.56.C42F10H14N4.00257074.2.set1d06_0_4. Sorry for the trouble. Dear spout23, the two files you mentioned are not stuck on our end. Best wishes, Your CEP team |

It is common on my machines that one short file (usually _4) hangs with the 'lock' message. They tend to self-resolve after six, sometimes seven, attempts.
----------------------------------------A greater frustration is the already-mentioned upload file size. I've seen 92+ MB. (Perhaps there should be a pool [Edit: separate thread, of course] on when the first upload >100MB will occur...) That's a lot of bandwidth generated by several quads which crank-out 12 to 16 tasks per day. Otherwise, useful project. [Edit 1 times, last edit by astroWX at Feb 14, 2014 10:59:47 PM] |

It seems that the era of >100MB uploads is here. Sitting in my transfer list, waiting until the dead of night to be uploaded, is E219485_733_I.58.C52H24N4O2.00246138.1.set1d06_1_4. Weighs in at 101.51 MB.

These work units that are running are using a larger molecule than normal. This as well as the increase from 12 hours to 18 hours for the cutoff has caused the result size to creep up in size. These larger molecules should run their course through the grid probably by next Monday. The work units after that should be back to normal size.
Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks for the feedback on the task sizes, when you say task are returning to normal size is this with a CPU runtime of roughly between 7 and 12 hours?

When I say back to normal size, I mean the size of the molecule that will be calculated against. This should cause workunits to speed up as they are less difficult. The cutoff will still be at the 18 hour limit though.
Hope this helps, -Uplinger |
