Re: CEP2 Transient upload error

confused
I also have a stuck upload to the Harvard CEP2 server. My guess is that something has happened to the server up at Harvard. If you are doing only CEP2, it is probably a good idea to do other projects until yhe server is up again.

Re: CEP2 Transient upload error

They seem to be uploading now. I had already switched to HCC and may stay there for a while.

Still stuck on upload with this one. Others reported without issue.

Re: CEP2 Transient upload error

Hi everybody,
we apparently had another problem with one of our servers this morning. We are very sorry about that and the resulting inconvenience. This time it is not quite obvious what happened but we are investigating. Service is back online now and uploads should be back to normal.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE ONLY POST WUS WHICH HAVE THE FOLLOWING ERROR SIGNATURE!

World Community Grid [error] Error reported by file upload server: [E201364_610_A.30.C24H13NO2S3.125.1.set1d06_0_4] error locking file

Most of the problems reported earlier seem to only indicate that the server was not available, but not that the wus were actually locked (that is a big difference!). Please resubmit unlock requests after you confirmed that files are in fact locked.
Thanks for your patience and our apologies again for the hassle.
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: CEP2 Transient upload error

We just got word from the Harvard Research Computing Department (which hosts our servers) that one of their 'datamovers' that export filesystems across the RC infrastructure had failed this morning and that their backup did not kick in as intended. This caused a bunch problems throughout their equipment, including one of our servers. It should be an isolated occurrence, but they are investigating why the effects were so pervasive.

The good news is that the interruption was hence due to 'higher powers' and not caused by CEP equipment failure - even though that may not be a consolation to some users.
Things had been running very smoothly since our previous problem when Ms Piggy approached capacity, so it's a shame that this streak was broken. But we are optimistic that we are back to normal now.
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: CEP2 Transient upload error

Dear pirogue,
this is a bit puzzling because we don't see any problems on our end. Did you get an error message like:
World Community Grid [error] Error reported by file upload server: [E201364_610_A.30.C24H13NO2S3.125.1.set1d06_0_4] error locking file ?
If yes, and if this problem persists, please give us a quick notice in a day or so and we try to unlock the file.
Sorry for the inconvenience and best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team
