Found >>>This ASUS AM3 board <<<
----------------------------------------I set a price alert @ $120 with free shipping! I have other shopping to do; no sense buying it now, have it sit around while the price drops. Next is a PhenomII X6 Black Edition, going for $200 now, then RAM (CHEAP)...If I do an upgrade I'm set!!! Already have my eyes on a machine running a PhenomII X4 with a 750 watt PSU and an ATI 4850...with this board I could incorporate both new GPU's in Cross FireX and set the other 4850 GPU in a bench machine ... move the existing MoBo/CPU to a single core Athy machine>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> sorry thinking out loud Bottom line...double my total output for around $400 ![]() ![]() |

Found >>>This ASUS AM3 board <<< Sport, FWIW I would be wary of this board. When the reviews only show a 74% 5 or 4 star rating after over 400 reviews that sends up a red flag for me. There seems to be a lot of USB issues. JMHO. My 2 current hexcore boards are Gigabytes and they've been rock solid since day one.

The new mobo arrived today.
---------------------------------------- Unfortunately it's defective. No audio and none of the PCI-E slots work so no video. Needless to say I'm not a happy camper.

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Are they trying to get them out too fast? Have you seen any other reports of the same problems? This kind of stuff makes me want to wait a little while to let things settle down before I order the board.Decisions, decisions. ![]() |

With a $55. motherboard you might expect a lack of quality control to cut costs. The Maximus IV is supposed to be the new flagship of the ROG Fleet, what can they be thinking sending out motherboards with problems like that? The money you paid for that board should have bought top notch quality control before shipment. That tells me they must have decided to skip quality control checks before they shipped. This is just compounding the problems started by intel and the P67 problem.
They should send you out 2 boards to make up for all the problems you are having to put up with. ![]() |

They should send you out 2 boards to make up for all the problems you are having to put up with. Works for me. On another note, I also received the 2600k that I ordered so I could use the gift card Newegg gave me, and I put it in the original board just for a test run. Much to my surprise it pulls 25 more watts and runs 5-7c hotter than the original chip and I didn't change any settings. Don't know what conclusions to draw from that. Maybe the new chip will run the same OC with less voltage. When I get a board that works it'll be interesting to find out. *Waiting patiently* ![]()

On second thought, ask for 3 boards. I will buy the 3rd board off of you, it might be quicker then waiting for the egg to get stock in.

The egg sent me an e-mail saying board #2 is on the way. *fingers crossed*

Hope you have better luck this time, I will cross my fingers for you too.
Your problems may be an indicator of why I can't find any boards for sale. Their stock may be flying out the door trying to keep up with not only the faulty boards recalled but the boards that made it out of the assembly plant without quality testing. They better get this right real quick or else people may go to someone else that can do it right. I dusted off the case for the build today, had a thick layer. Drives, water cooling, fans, card reader cabling and power supply all in ready for the fun whenever they let me begin. ![]() |
