Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

Would be nice if you logged the Elapsed-CPU time diffs. BOINCTasks does it for me, but it would be nice if the techs ......
......
what the efficiency is without having to do hoops (the Linux and Mac crunchers who cant run the BOINCTasks tool).

I'll have a look tomorrow in BoincTasks History if the tasks have finished.
If still running I can see the performance by ticking CPU% in the tasks tab.
On 1 quad the percentage is useless because of running 1 GPU-task (~19% of 1 core) besides the 4 BETA's.
btw Linux and Mac users can see the performance in BoincTasks of those machines remotely, if they have at least 1 Win-PC.
For this test not necessary for Linux, because of no Linux BETA-tasks.
ps besides your name in the about box, I'm the 2nd tester.

Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

Just a note that the CEP2 setting to ignore project requirements does not apply to this Beta run,
04/11/2010 00:17:21 World Community Grid Message from server: Beta - The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 requires 128.00 kbps download bandwidth. Your computer has been measured at 119.48 kbps - Close, but no cigar.
Still, got a few on another network.

Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

I was one day short of my silver badge...but today's additional units (8 so far) will send me over what I need for the new badge. Happy hunting everyone.

Edit: Up to 9 now.
Edit2: The same laptop that errored out before errored again. Only doing it on CEP2 BETA's right now.

BETA_E200520_381_A.24.C20H14N2SSe.31.4.set1d06
BETA_E200561_129_A.25.C22H17N3.19.0.set1d06

The system is a Compaq Presario V2000, Windows XP Home 32bit w/SP3, 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64, 1GB Ram

I just realized it was the 6.10.43 client...am updating now in hopes that fixes it.

So a reboot and a client update to 6.10.58 and the laptop picks up yet a 3rd BETA. Here's to crossing my fingers.

Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

Picked up 2 so far from this new issue, 1 still in PV from the last round. One is running about an hour so far, 8% done, about 3 minutes difference (Elapsed - CPU) on a T2500 quad, Win7_x86.

Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

If this beta includes testing the upload server, why not add linux to the mix so we can really pound the server. Or is this server already been used by cep2 linux prod?

X-Files 27, if I was a WCG tech, I'd take it slowly for a start, before ramping up the uploads to this new server (also, it may not be ready for true Production data just yet)

Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

Completed one of the 1,000 no problems but didn't see times. Just completed one of the next 5,000 and its elapsed was 7:23 cpu was 6:47
(XP on a Q9450), Running a 2nd now; if it survives the reboot I need to do will check times on it. Upload was fine.

Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

gb009761, the reason I asked is that, the primary objective of this test is the upload server and the secondary is to confirm the confirmed (as uplinger stated that the windows/mac core is looking good) so there would be another round of test for linux, windows, mac to test the servers. So its like a re-run of the re-run for windows and mac. Duplicate = Ineffecient in QA standpoint.

Unless the linux code has a different branch of code from windows and mac then the duplicate test would not be ineffecient as linux has variation of code.

Re: BETA Clean Energy Project phase 2 version 6.35

After disasterous results with with my 980x/Win 7 machine on the last BETA run(OS crashes, HD corruption, etc), I decided to install BOINC and my pagefile on their own SSD, a 40GB OCZ Vertex 2. This time things are running smooth as silk. It's been crunching 12 BETA's simultaneously for the past 8 hours or so and haven't experienced so much as a mouse stutter this time. Looking at the latest finished WU: elapsed time was 7:10, CPU time was 6:58, a loss of less than 3%, not bad at all! biggrin
