I didn't mean that they WOULD drop into production. I know full well there will be an extended beta phase before that happens. I meant that GPU work of some description could drop any time, meaning that it's possible but with an unknown probability for us mere mortals. Ultimately it will get here when it gets here. The first I know of it will probably be a beta unit in my queue that I don't recognize.

Sure you do, making sure anyone reading this casually also does [and it then being repeated elsewhere], then having taking the opportunity to point to the easy doorstep delivered RSS feeds :D
----------------------------------------From a little insider knowledge, and observing some performance changes second half of last week, it may not be far off. The whole not allowed to be jeopardized by the one, there was oodles of more server core memory ordered to maintain performance for what's coming. We're racing towards 1 million results daily validated this week. http://bit.ly/WCGRTF Last 21 days is now above 10.3 results per second, peaking at 11.3. --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 19, 2012 12:23:43 PM] |

I am sorry but I have almost reached my goals here at WCG so my primary focus will switch elsewhere. That means MOST of my cpu's will be leaving WCG in the near future, next 2 weeks at the latest probably, but whenever the Beta for the gpu's are released I WILL come back and hopefully crunch some of those for you. What that means is that your RPS may go down a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of some miniscule percentage point! I HOPE enough new people come onboard to make up for my loss! I am NOT stopping crunching, just working on some VERY long term goals here! ![]() ![]() |

As for drivers, there are reports that some projects fall over with the latest NVidia 295.51. This part is going to be real fun for the techs to keep up with... the "I need support for this or that version as project X requires that one". There's still no indication at all as of yet that GPU crunchers need to be upgrading from BOINC 6.10.58, so I gather, the drivers have to waltz well with this endorsed release.

and that option will have to be written into the web page before the beta can go ahead, so the opt-in option will only mean it's very close. As for the email notification I don't get those until some time (up to 12 hours) after things have already happened.
----------------------------------------So, once the option is checked the first I will know of the beta actually releasing work will probably be a unit in my cache that I don't recognise, just like I said. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Not to worry, I'm certain there will be more than enough beta units to go around, and probably for quite some time. Expect to see badge levels that were previously unheard of. We might even get more than two people with sapphire beta badges.

Not all of the GPU projects work with those clients at this time and thus the work units error out. However, some of the projects currently require them. Since we are on a wait and see notice, there may be quite a few people doing a quick reinstall job in hopes of getting the BETA's to work. Just something for fellow WCG'ers to consider and watch out for. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I see that the new AMD 7750 and 7770 cards use the PCI-E 3 interface.
What's the oldest motherboards you could plug these into? |
