That way there is no need for the extra graphics option. The way I've shown it you could run one or the other or both... ![]() @tomast, so you managed to confuse another. Plz put a text on your screenshot to say "Concept". And this revival popping up, implicitly by selecting HCC GPU you've indicated to Beta testing the HCC GPU project, but as it is, what if there is a new project, GPU only or another being ported to from CPU to GPU? Still need that "If there is GPU work..." somewhere. Think a 2 column tick box would be more elegant, and keep the page length in check. --//-- Right now I am not running any projects on my CPU, I am just waiting for the GPU ones. I did that by 1. selecting all available projects 2. ...if there is graphics card .... 3. unselected the beta option .... 4. from boincstats options for my host, I ticked Do not use CPU... So now I am one big GPU camper waiting for the gates to open :) |

You'll never get any with beta unselected.

NO projects above the allow gpu processing check box need to be selected as they are NOT related to the gpu OR Beta check boxes! If you have selected to receive both gpu and Beta work and a Beta unit comes out for SN2S for example, you will get it, even if it is a cpu unit. You can always cancel it if you wish. ![]() ![]() |

Is there any (not exactly!) timeline when productive GPU in HCC Project will start? Im only interessed because im hot to start planing a fine HCC only GPU Computer (so i need some productive inputs what newer GPUs are best for that then, and how many addidional recylingcards i can use, cos the number of mainboardslots i will need). For now i plan/try to finance a 24 CPU Core cluster with 4GPUs ^^). I would like to dedicate this powerful 24/7h computer to my dog who died last summer at the consequences from "braincancer" and its therapies. At the Time i only drive around 6 CPU Cores (+2 HT ones) for HCC cos i have much more GPU then CPU Power available sadly. Anyway the sapphire Badge is very near too. Are there any plans to get some higher badges? :)

They have not even started the Nvidia cards yet, also the different OS's need testing again with BOTH kinds of cards etc, etc. And remember ALL the testing has to validated thru cpu units too. There is a long way to go for the testing yet. Now it COULD be done in a short amount of time IF everything goes perfectly, but as in most cases that is not likely, hoped for but unlikely. As with most things WCG will do it right, not necessarily fast, which I think is the right path to take. ![]() ![]() |

At least 6800 series or newer would be my suggestion. My ATI 6950 did the betas in 198 seconds. Don't know about nvidia (never owned one) but hear the 500 series is good. Their newest one out seems to have issues, but probably needs updates to correct some of the issues.

Double precision does not matter!!! Sorry for exclamation points but I keep seeing posts with this. HCC GPU uses single precision (FP32)

Double precision doesn't matter for WCG, but in the event he would want to crunch at another project, some require it. Or, the double precision can crunch 2 at a time. Might as well be future proof!
