Just to mention it - two i7 of mine do not like the new beta test at all: One crashed after about 4 hours runtime (first nothing was accessible and after some minutes a blue screen with immediate reboot) just to restart all four WUs from 0%. Meanwhile they completed and validated.
On the other the boinc manager was frozen after two WUs had the no-heartbeat-for-30-seconds-message and were restarted from the last checkpoint. But all WUs continued to run until completion and uploaded and the computer was accessible all the time. But boinc manager never recovered and had to be closed by task manager. Both computers (one Vista 64 bit, one Win 7 64 bit) were rebooted before the WUs started. With the previous beta test 8 WUs ran simultaneously without any problems or crashes, it occurred with only 4 WUs running concurrently with 4 simap WUs. Maybe boinc manager was missing the other 4 WUs? ;-) |

Those are the two overriding rules - there are a few sub-rules that also help One of which I've just implemented (as I'm a WCG sole cruncher), is to set the 'Switch between applications between nnnn minutes' to 7200 - as that way, any Beta (and also repair) WU's that come in, automatically get started in High Priority mode (thanks Sek for that tip ). Does that still work if you are only attached to one project (WCG only here)? |

Great as I made the change, lets see what happens next time. Why does or how does it work?

I've sorted the bandwidth issue out. I'm now getting Message from server: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 is not available for your type of computer. Dose this mean there are currently no beta work units for windows?

I've sorted the bandwidth issue out. I'm now getting Message from server: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 is not available for your type of computer. Dose this mean there are currently no beta work units for windows? It's been pretty quiet on the beta front for the last few days. There may be some repair units left to go out but if you haven't received any by now you may be out of luck.
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

Download and that's the real speed from WCG hosting center in Toronto to wherever anyone is on the globe, port to port. Currently my laptop has a measured mean of 423164.775447 byte or about 420KB over simple telephone ADSL2+ and 802.11N WIFI
